This is an outstanding jacket for the money providing much more warmth than any of the stitched through style down jackets that are similar priced. It also has a unique combination of warmth, light weight, and suppleness that cannot be found in any of other of the baffled jackets save perhaps for the North Face Prism Optimus which costs much more.
This jacket does not feel bulky as it is streamlined at the sides. The light weight and suppleness means that the outer shell isn't the toughest fabric for rough outdoor use. In situations like that, I wear a heavy duty oversized Gore-tex shell over it.
This isn't the warmest down jacket either. If you want a jacket for extreme cold in harsh environments, this jacket isn't for you. Nevertheless, it provides an an extraordinary value even at its normal price. I got mine at an REI January super sale for an absolute steal.
Here's what other sites are saying:
The REI Antifreeze jacket warms you with nature's most efficient insulator and covers the hips for extreme warmth. Downproof polyester shell surrounds lightweight, toasty warm, highly compressible 700-fill-power goose down insulation. Shell fabric features 88% recycled polyester. Baffled construction keeps down from shifting and allows maximum loft to keep you warm; reduced fill on sides cuts down on bulkiness. Durable Water Repellent finish fends off light rain showers and snow. Zip-off, down-insulated hood wraps around the lower face for extra warmth; side and back adjusters provide a close fit and good peripheral visibility. Hem drawcord and inner fleece cuffs seal in warmth. Includes two zippered hand pockets and one interior pocket with cord port. Windproof to 60 mph. Stuff sack included.
