First off, I have to reveal that I work for REI but I didn't when I first bought this spoon.
Here's the deal. If you use freeze-dried food you've likely experienced the problem of not being able to easily stir in the dried stuff at the bottom corners of the bag. So you end up with crunchy dry bits or you end up with the handle of your spoon covered in food. This 8 1/2 inch long spoon solves that problem, and it weighs only half an ounce.
It costs $2 and weighs only a 1/10 oz more than the titanium model.
