I have had this pack for nearly five years now!! It has been on many many trips including the north Cascades, Olympics, Rockies, Italian Alpennines, German Alps, Swiss Alps, as well as many multi-day city trips from northern Germany to Sicily. I couldn't be happier with this pack!!! All zippers still work well, and no holes yet!!

I have used this pack for many things and it excels at all of them. I first used this pack on my honeymoon. In the description it fails to mention that you can remove the hollow stays and waist belt. This allowed it to fit perfectly in the overhead compartment in coach. It easily and comfortably hauled everything (except my suit) to the cruise ship and during a walking tour of Miami on the return trip.

I have yet to wear it on an overnight, but I have worn it on several day trips from summer in the Sierras, where it barely had anything in it and sucked down super small and didn't shift while pulling some class 4 moves. To winter along the coast and the Sierras, where I always take more stuff than I need, just in case. It still looks brand new, not a scuff or snag is visible.

Retailers' Descriptions

Here's what other sites are saying:

Anatomically cut shoulder straps and hipbelt for stability and comfort. Hipbelt has two pockets for easy on-the-go access to necessities such as snacks and navigation tools. Inner sleeve holds your hydration reservoir (sold separately); dual ports allow tube to route over either shoulder. Map pocket underneath lid; front pocket with water-resistant, off-set zipper lets you stash valuables away from the elements. Molded-foam lumbar pad and patented Delrin rod hipbelt construction redirect weight out of lumbar area and onto the hips, distributing it evenly. Multiple lash points let you strap on bulky gear (like a bear-proof canister) or add your own bungee system. New tubular aluminum frame system provides structure with less weight. New, 140-denier nylon ripstop construction provides increased durability without added weight; polyurethane coating for weather resistance. REI-exclusive internal cord compression system pulls the load in with one tug, eliminating external straps and buckles. Simple, lightweight tool attachments let you quickly stash trekking poles and ice axes. This overnight / weekend pack provides a balanced mix of light weight, organization and durability while letting you hike in comfort. With a rip-and-stick torso adjustment, shoulder strap system easily slides on pack's center frame to fit torsos of varying lengths. Zippered top pocket and large, gusseted mesh side pockets let you stash items for quick access.
