From REI:
"January Clearance On now! This REI Switchback parka has superb technical features, great styling and a highly durable fabric. REI Elements /polyester 2-layer laminate construction offers reliable waterproof, breathable protection. Nylon mesh-lined upper body wicks moisture away from you; lower body is lined with nylon taffeta. Windproof to 60 mph. Brimmed hood with side and back adjustments tailors the fit for coverage that keeps your head dry, yet still allows good peripheral vision. Two-way pit zippers allow cooling airflow; underarm seams have been eliminated to allow increased range of motion. Sleeve design allows unrestricted range of motion. Hem drawcord cinches easily with single-hand cord adjusters. Sleek, narrow bonded cuffs with rear elastic have an easily adjustable fit. Hand pockets are placed to be accessible when you have a pack on and allow additional ventilation when open; welded flaps are durable and sleek. Inside pocket features quick-access mesh section and zippered section with headphone port. Two-way front zipper features slim welded wind flap on outside, while the inside wind flap wraps up around zipper to protect neck from abrasion. Looks and feels great; performance cut is shorter in front and longer in back. Muir Woods Jacket, sold separately, will zip into the Switchback Parka."

"I had great expectations but the parka lasted less than a month in use. The main zipper pull popped while attempting to cinch it up to my chin. The metal is very flimsy. You'd think that zippers would be a serious concern in design. REI needs to rethink this flaw and provide hardier zipper pulls."

"Well this is a replacement jacket for the 'original' switchback that was an 'REI' fabric that went bad. My original switchback was a total loss. After a week in the WET Scotish Higlands I was a sopping mess. REI was EXCELLENT about stepping up to the plate and replacing the jacket, BUT my GoreTex replacment is no better after a year and a half."

"Excellent, very lightweight rain gear. I have never gotten wet wearing this. The pants and jacket fold into the jacket pocket without too much trouble, making a convenient carrying bag. Only complaint is that I would have used buttons in place of the velcro, velcro seems more flimbsy; otherwise, a great jacket at an unbeatable price."
