User Review: REI Travel Down +45
Source: bought it new
Price Paid: $140
I bought this sleeping bag to save weight and reduce pack size. It is a huge score in both of these areas.
- Good coverage
- No down leaks, even on first use
- Zipper snagged easily
- Pocket too small to hold anything
Packs down to 5 liters, which is quite good compared to a synthetic bag of the same temp rating. I slept in it 2 nights, one of which dipped below freezing. I used a liner to keep myself warm.
Warmth: I feel like the diamond pattern offers really good coverage of the insulation. I was warm down to the rated temp, but was wearing a fleece OmniHeat jacket
Fit & Comfort: I have a 46' chest and it fit me fine., Should fit anyone around 6'2" or shorter
Entry & Exit: Zipper wasn't the most cooperative, but otherwise I had no issues
Moisture: Didn't test, but it seems like a dry weather bag (as most down bags are).
Packability: Down to 5 liters, or 6"x12"
Loft: Excellent, as down usually is.
Ease of Use: No complaints here, better than most of my bags.
Construction & Durability: Seems to be well made, did NOT leak down, no stitching loose or overruns.
Conditions: 2 nights in the 30's and 40's in dry conditions.
