REI Traverse Haute Route

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Traverse Haute Route has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best expedition packs for 2024.

Overall, I have loved this backpack. It has held up under rigorous conditions and this is due to the great quality construction of the folks at REI. The internal frame is very comfortable, even after a few days hiking I have had no back pains or sore spots. This pack is huge especially when you use the extender and floating lid. The lid is composed of 3 pockets, two external and one hidden internal pocket to keep you valuables.

Next you have the huge main compartment which I have never actually be able to fill all the way. The sleeping bag compartment at the bottom is separated from the top by an internal drawstring. The pack has four compression straps and a bottom flap where you can attach your tent or sleeping mat. I recommend this pack with no reserves!
