Richmoor Homestyle Chicken

We've never been able to figure out how to fix this meal. It is bland and the only way we've been able to make it work is to add a package of precooked chicken (foil wrap) and add some extra dehydrated peas to soak up the extra water. Not one of our favorite meals!

Pros

  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Hard to prepare
  • Requires two containers
  • Need to rethink this one and add some more to it
  • Needs additional chicken and veggies which adds weight

This s a very bland meal unless you really add something to spice it up. We've managed to use this meal by adding a package of chicken breast meat to it and to add dehydrates peas or carrots to the gravy mix.

In order to prepare this meal it takes a second container of water for the mashed potatoes which is not convenient when you are backpacking. The meal is filling enough but every time we've prepared it it taste more like soup than a trail meal.

We have saved a Mountain House meal bag that we use to prepare the potatoes in rather than carry a separate pot, which works. But, I would recommend that the potatoes be packaged in a zip-lock bag inside the meal that can rehydrate the potatoes while the chicken gravy rehydrates in its own separate bag.

I will not purchase this meal again for our backpacking trips.
