Well, I have to say I was hesitant. They are pretty damn ugly. However, these boots have been the most comfortable boots I've used in a long time. Unbelievably comfortable right out of the box (w/replacement insole, though). They are surprisingly waterproof (treated properly, of course) and can accomodate strange shaped feet (mine), given that they have a unique inner fitting system. The only, albeit major, problem, after a year of lots of miles, was that the stitching connecting the leather to the plastic cuff ripped out completely on both boots. Salomon did back them up with warranty. So, what am I wearing right now, you might be asking? Yup. Another pair of the Adventure 8's.
