I'm a boot sales persons nightmare! After trying several boots on at a local retailer I finally decided on the Salomon X-ADV 7. The boot fit extremely well from the start.
The boots have a waterproof exteriour utilizing leather and plastic. The plastic ensures a secure fit across the top of the foot, eliminating any slipping. The laces tighten with no effort at all, making lacing adjustments very easy.
The soles are very aggresive in design, translating into extremely good traction up hill and down. Stiffness is quite high , this boot could be used for serious backpackers. The boot interiour has a dry fit material called Clima Dry which seems to work well, although my feet did get a little warm but still comfortable.
These boots fit so well, I did a 18 km hike the very next day without any break-in. I would highly recommend the Salomon X ADV to anyone looking for a good quality no hassel boot.
