Sequel Storm King Jacket

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

Superb fit with a very clean design that minimizes all seams. Big slash pockets which also acts as ventilation, a lot easier to use than the pit-zips. No problems to use the pockets with a harness or a pack. The liner works wonders for being comfortable even during high aerobic activities, like backcountry skiing.

"Standard" doo-dahs for a 4-season jacket; fleece chin guard, powder skirt, pre-bent elbows, pit zips. The detachable hood is different from all others. I can't say if it is better or worse, but if following head movements is highest prority, it is the best there is.

Some things it lacks; inner pocket for valuables, hanger. One of the velcro pieces in the pit zips ripped after half a year but I was able to fix that. It has happened that the detached hood accidently was left home when needed.

This jacket would be overkill for the occasional summer hike, but for rugged 4-season use it would be hard to find anything better. Worth the steep price.
