I have a 2 year old Alpha. If they have fixed the zippers where they can be operated inside the tent, then this is a definite 5 star.

I carried this tent up Mt. Rainier to High Camp and stayed in it on the glacier and also at low camp with rain, and 80 degree temps down low and then below freezing with snow on the Glacier. This tent was light enough for me to carry by myself with a full pack weight and small enough pack size, as well as being vented when it needed to be and warm when it needed to be.

I loved the windows and the large vestibule as well as two door ventilation. The fly covered well and it had enough room even in the narrow side to fit 3 grown men's shoulders when we found that the tent was not quite level and rather than turn it around after snow walling and dead manning, We turned around instead. Really tight walls too, during 40-50 MPH winds.

Great tent if they have fixed the zippers.

The tried-and-true Sierra Designs Alpha tent for three easily converts from a four-season mountaineering shelter to a three-season backpacking oasis. Removable Stash Door™ and removable pole sections let you lighten your load in nice weather. One huge vestibule allows room to store gear while a rear door makes easy work of entry and exit. Large ceiling panel and mesh door panels allow excellent ventilation and stargazing in clear weather. Light yet strong DAC Featherlite® NSL poles are anodized without the use of harmful acids. Swift Clips™ provide fast setup; Clip-Locs™ at tent pole intersections increase tent strength up to 60% without adding weight or bulk. Interlocs™ attach the rainfly to the tent canopy at each guy-out point to create a strong, integrated structure. Color-coded webbing makes pitching this tent easier than making your bed! Dye-Free Optic White™ canopy brightens up the interior living environment. SuperSeal Floor™ combines the benefits of catenary and bathtub floors; raised side seams are taped for complete waterproofness. Seams are made watertight with PVC-free tape. Tent Guard with Ultra-Fresh™ treatment thwarts the growth of odor-causing mold, fungus and mildew, greatly extending your enjoyment and the tent's usable life. Computer-aided design allows Sierra Designs to create a strong, stable tent with uniform stress distribution across the entire structure. Reflective door binding, guy-out points and zipper pulls reflect brightly in headlamps during low visibility conditions. A multitude of gear pockets keep gear organized and up off the floor. Comes with stakes, guylines and Nite Ize® Figure 9™ rope tighteners and stuff sacks. Fastpack option on the four-season setup allows poles, rainfly and footprint (sold separately) to be used together without the tent body. Fastpack weight: 4 lbs. 14 oz.
