User Review: Sierra Designs MX31 Jacket

Sierra Designs MX31 Jacket
Above: The current MX31 Jacket, which may differ slightly from the version reviewed.

Rating: rated 4 of 5 stars
Fabric: nylon with Gore-Tex XCR
Price Paid: $200

Not a pure skiing shell, rather more for backpacking or mountaineering. Solid perfomance in rain/wind/etc, and zero clamminess. I've owned this one for a couple years and am satisfied for the price I paid (almost 1/2 off). Light weight at about 1lb,6oz. and fairly soft hand, but still stiff enough to not collapse and wet out.

Nice reinforcement panels, good pocket placement, efficient cut yet roomy enough for layers, arm length zip vents, sealing zippers with "garages", unequaled XCR and expert seamtaping with all the attention to detail top manufacturers are known for, there is little to complain about. I do however wish the hood rolled up and 'nested' better. End up leaving it loose; small price, tho'!
