User Review: Sierra Designs Revolution Parka

Rating: rated 4 of 5 stars
Fabric: 3-Ply Gore-tex, Ripstop and Criterion nylon combination
Price Paid: $500 Cdn.

This is Sierra Designs' coming of age jacket in my opinion. It seems that they were trying to displace The North Face's perrenial all-stars the Mountain Light and Kitchatna jackets with a lot of new techy features. The kinetic crosswind venting system sees the underarm pit zippers moved onto the front of the jacket for more air circulation. Although this works very well when that ventilation is needed, some sort of velcro closure over the storm flaps would be nice to keep the wind from being chanelled through the zippers when it's not wanted.

The best feature on this jacket is by far the dual dome pop top hood. With this system, you only adjust the drawstrings once and then can put the hood up or down just by unsnapping or snapping up two domes on either side. Yes, I can put my radial hood up with my mittens on! The fleece hood is nice to have when you want it but a bit of an annoyance when you don't.
