Sea to Summit Aeros Premium Pillow

rated 5 of 5 stars Thick, light, non-slip, and the best I've found. I've had five or six backpacking pillows and have tried using rolled up clothing. Each of these had problems. Rolled up clothing unrolls or is lumpy. Some inflatables are too thin, or have slick surfaces that allow them to slip out from under the head, or are too heavy and bulky, or some combination of the three. The Sea to Summit Aeros (regular size) is immediately likable. It weighs 2.8 ounces and packs down into its tiny stuff sack to fit inside… Full review

ZPacks Pillow Dry Bag

rated 4.5 of 5 stars You can have a great night’s sleep with the ZPacks Pillow Dry Bag. Use it as a stuff sack and an added layer of protection for your sleeping bag during the day. Then at night, turn it inside out, stuff it full of clothes, and rest your head on the soft and smooth micro-fleece liner. I have been trying to lighten my pack weight, so I try and keep an eye out for gear that can serve multiple purposes. And, for 2 additional ounces I had to see if this was something that would work for me. My ZPacks… Full review

Sea to Summit Toaster Fleece Liner

rated 3 of 5 stars The Sea to Summit Toaster fleece liner is a bit bulky and heavy but can be used in a few different ways. I ended up using it more as a summer bag and a bag cover in the winter. Due to its size and weight I see it being used more for recreational camping rather than long backpacking trips. I picked this liner up at a local outfitter for a week long winter backpacking trip I was planning this past year. I was expecting single digit temps and blistering winds, and since I get cold really easy I was… Full review

Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed Duo SYN 1.5-Season

rated 5 of 5 stars Someone who sleeps with a partner will find this bag has such great design features that they will know the person who designed it loved and hated doing this many times in the past. tThey distilled all these experiences in one great couples bag! I am 5'8" and weigh 240 lbs and my partner is 5'5 "and weighs 130 lbs. Most of my weight is in the belly, cursed that I am! Considering my proportions, this bag was just a little snug at the mid-section when laying flat next to my partner...not too snug… Full review

MontBell Alpine Burrow Bag Thermal Sheet

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Adds extra warmth to a lightweight sleeping bag to extend its use into colder weather. Very lightweight, but very slim cut won't fit big people, but adds a real 5 to 10 degrees to any sleeping bag depending on your metabolism. The good points first: Like most MB gear it is well made and the design is well thought out. It isn't expensive and it is an excellent idea for those who do not have enough money to buy a warmer sleeping bag and who want to camp in cooler conditions. The short zipper makes… Full review

REI Unisex AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad

rated 2.5 of 5 stars A decent idea that in practice didn't work for me. The Air Rails only help to keep you on the mat if you have it at close to full inflation, which I never do for comfort. A short review of this item as I didn't keep it for long... I bought this on an unexpected trip out of town to help my 80-year-old parents move. The new place didn't have a lot of room so I ran by REI with the intention of using the pad for a couple of nights and evaluating it as a replacement for my aging REI Lite Core pad, and… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Saros

rated 2.5 of 5 stars I got this bag for an AT section hike. It was very comfortable at first and worked well with the Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus. I did find it irritating that the bag was so warm that most nights I could not sleep in it zipped up. The zip did not go all the way down to feet. Zipper broke and that was that. Backless weight saving idea not so sure about either, made it hard to use independently without the sleeping pad. I am getting a replacement sent from the company, the Capella women's bag. We will… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Laminina Z Flame

rated 4 of 5 stars If you can afford just one bag, and need a bag that "does most" — consider the Lamina/Lamina Z Flame. While this bag is not for gram-weenies, it is a great mid-range, mid-cost bag that hits a really great sweet spot for wet and 3-season use. This bag also has among the most features, lowest cost, and warmth rating in its class. Overall Specs The unisex version of the Lamina Z Flame bag is rated down to 22 degrees Fahrenheit for the EN lower limit and 32 degrees Fahrenheit for the EN comfort… Full review

Western Mountaineering VersaLite

rated 4 of 5 stars Well constructed, very light and compressible. The bag weighs close to nothing. If you're looking to save weight and have a bomber bag look no further. Western Mountaineering got it right here. I use this bag year round. When hot I just sleep on top of it. The loft is so sweet. You roll it out and it blows up like a balloon. I've had it for a few years and it keeps on ticking. I think I paid $450 for it, but I did the research, knew what I wanted and pulled the trigger. I'm writing this review because… Full review
