NEMO Astro Air

rated 5 of 5 stars I don't know if I should brag or cry...this is my first real air pad. I've used cheaper ones like from Walmart and yoga pads. The older I get the thicker my pads keep getting. This was a Christmas gift. I was unsure of it but after a week camping, I love it. It's light and comfy. And a nice price after looking around. I've use cheap pads all my life. But this pad blew my mind. Uses very little pack room. And for the first time my back side was never cold, not one bit!!! A big plus for me. I used… Full review

Kammok Firebelly Trail Quilt

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Nothing like the quilts grandma used to put on her bed, the Firebelly uses modern materials and design to pack a lot of comfort into a light, small package. On the ground or in a hammock this quilt is great for those looking to reduce their three-season load in style. Low thirties and raining on a fall trip to N.H. Perfect weather for testing hydrophobic down. Kammok is an interesting company that seems to be balanced between being true gearheads and being more of what I’d call a lifestyle brand. Full review

L.L.Bean Down Sleeping Bag with DownTek, Mummy -20°

rated 4.5 of 5 stars A very good down winter bag with enough length to store stuff. Excellent warranty and excellent attention to details. I was looking for a -20° F down bag with DWR down treatment like Dri Down or Bean's Down Tek to ward off moisture collection over several days of winter use. Anyone who has winter camped with a down bag for a week or so knows the don gradually collects respiration and perspiration  moisture, losing insulative ability and making the bag heavier. DWR treated down like Bean's Down… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's Trail Lite

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Light, but not very sturdy. I have had my Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite for a few years now, purchased in 2009, but it has never really done it for me: Although it is light I found it small for my frame size (6'-1"/ 1.85 m tall). I just went for convenience since the plan was to have it for backpacking and bought the biggest size available at the time. It has always been barely comfortable to sleep in and I always slide off from it. Every time I found myself sleeping on the tent bottom. Not very sturdy. Full review

Dutchware Folding Sit Pad

rated 5 of 5 stars The Dutchware Gear folding sit pad is ultra lightweight, durable, multi-use, and cheap. It provides a lot of basic functionality -- at this weight, size, and price there’s no reason to not carry one. This is a review of the Dutchware Gear folding sit pad. Dutchware sells mostly accessories for camping but also offers a limited selection of shelters, tarps, quilts, and hammocks. I am not affiliated with Dutchware Gear in any way. For the sit pad I paid the current price of $6.75+shipping. Product… Full review

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir

rated 5 of 5 stars Light, compact, and very comfortable. I have used my NeoAir for several years, having purchased it when they first came out. They are noisy when outside a bag but are the most comfortable pad I have packed. It is about 1/4 the size of my old Thermarest standard.  I now put it in my Big Agnes down bag pouch where it makes no noise and works beautifully. Blowing it up is not too much work. I leave it inside my Big Agnes, deflating it and stuffing it in the bag sack where it is easily re-filled. Full review

enLIGHTened Equipment Prodigy 20°

rated 5 of 5 stars Using Climashield APEX insulation this quilt is made for cold, wet conditions that make down quilts nervous. Made to order in ten degree increments across the 20-50°F range with an attention to detail that long time quilt users will appreciate. Enlightened Equipment is well known for their down quilts, but they also offer the Prodigy which uses Climashield APEX insulation. For those who deal with very wet conditions or as is my case, extended cold weather trips, using down can be a bit nerve wracking. Full review

Big Agnes Q-Core SL

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a very good pad. Comfortable and fairly warm too. Started using it at basecamp tenting for over a month in France and Turkey. Held up well for at least a year or so before developing flex fatigue holes between the inflation piece and the fabric.  (I am rough on gear, leaving it in my car in summer heat etc.) This probably had some to do with the heat as well loosening the fabric at the spot. The supplied patch glue had long since melted in the heat so I just used some JB Weld that was handy… Full review

Mountain Hardwear UltraLamina 0°

rated 5 of 5 stars The bag is warm, packable, and good quality. Someone who sleeps cold should do well in this bag. This is the best sleeping bag I've used so far. Using it recently on the AT it kept me warm @ 20°F and got too hot when I zipped it up the second night @27°F in the tent. I have a feeling it will go down to 0°F, but it works well into the teens. Have the regular size so there is extra room all over the bag for me to move around in. I probably should have a short, but the extra room allows me to store… Full review
