Ozark Trail Elevated Anywhere Bed Air Mattress

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Sat new unused for about a year till needed. As I opened the package pieces of black plastic fell out of the bag. It looks like the foot part that the struts hinge on are made of barf. This one is broken right out of the bag. I took it to Walmart and they REFUSED to replace or refund. More and more I buy less and less from that store. It's junk and overpriced junk at that. No wonder their sales are down. Not much more I could possibly say about this expensive piece of junk. It never worked for me,… Full review

Moonstone Optima

rated 3 of 5 stars I was cold at Camp Verde, AZ, campground in February and the zipper snagged the nylon backing. Good for spring camping in dry weather at Havasupai Falls Campground with no tent. I decided to take advantage of a late winter snow fall one February and skied at the Flagstaff Sno-bowl. I drove to a Camp Verde camp ground that night and would sleep in the back of my S.U.V. I found myself so cold that I was starting the engine frequently to heat up the truck. At some point the zipper snagged the backing… Full review

Kelty Tuck 20 / EN 22

rated 4 of 5 stars Great bag at a great price. Just received it. I also own the Kelty Mistral 20 degree bag. The Tuck is 11 ounces lighter, and compresses to fit in a Kelty medium compression sack. The Mistral compresses down to fit in a large compression sack. The Tuck is listed as a 22 degree bag, not a 20. Has a zipper about six inches from the end of the bag—with the zipper open, you can have your feet out of and on top of the bag. Full review

Sea to Summit UltraLight Insulated Mat

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Lightweight comfy pad, gives a great night's sleep. I was intrigued by Sea to Summit's new line of sleeping pads, so when the REI dividend and coupon came out, I decided to give it a try. The first thing I notice was how small the packed size was. I'm always trying to put less bulk in my back, so this is good news for me. I was taken by the pad's interesting new valve design. There are essentially two "plugs" in one. You open the outer plug to inflate, and both plugs to deflate. I find that it takes… Full review

Sea to Summit Aeros Pillow Ultra Light

rated 4 of 5 stars I used to have a lot of problems with camping pillows: not anymore. I used to use clothes as a pillow. Problem: my head would always slide off to one side or the other and the "pillow" was inevitably lumpy. Result: bad sleep. Then I bought my first inflatable. This was a dramatic improvement but... the material was cold and hard to the skin. But still it was a big improvement. Then I bought this pillow! Wow! I've had it for a year now on ~6 trips. No complaints about comfort, feel, warmth, nothing… Full review

Klymit Insulated Static V

rated 4 of 5 stars Very light and packable full length pad, comfortable. For the size and weight of this pad, it's hard to beat. Packs compact and light. Not self-inflating, takes about 10-12 breaths of air but inflates surprisingly quickly. Very comfortable and warm; I've used this down to -15° Celsius.  I'm 6'1" 195 lbs, no issues bottoming out, and the v-shaped air cells keep me from sliding around. As others have said, it is difficult to get all the air out when rolling it up to put back in the stuff sack. Full review

Sierra Designs Men's Backcountry Bed 600 2-Season

rated 4 of 5 stars Innovative design with no zippers and built-in comforter. Warm below rating for me who usually sleeps cold. Fairly compressible. DriDown works well. Pad stays put in sleeve for good night's sleep. The Backcountry Bed is, as most of you must have heard by now, a new kind of sleep system. It does indeed have the qualities of your bed at home although it is a little harder to get into and out of. I have been using my Backcounty Bed in my yurt at home all winter and have just taken it out into the field… Full review

REI Men's Radiant +20

rated 2 of 5 stars I really wanted to like it, but it was disappointing. I bought the long and wide version of the REI Radiant 20F down bag with my 2014 REI dividend, and I thought I would like this bag, but it really fell short in a few areas. It seemed like a good value for $220 so I tried it out in the store and it fit great (I'm a big guy) but unfortunately, that is about where the good ends. The first issue is the zipper. I know it's unavoidable that all zippers will get snagged every so often, but the zipper… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's Trail Lite

rated 4 of 5 stars At 1lb 11oz, it's not the lightest but does a fine job for 3-seasons. I've been using the Trail Lite for two years now and I've always been pleased with it. Knowing there are new pads out there that offer more loft, higher R-value, and lighter weight, my curiosity has been piqued but for now, the Trail lite is what I know. I would say that overall this pad has always served me well and has lived up to my expectations of it.The bag inflates to approximately 1 1/4" thick. Not a great amount of loft… Full review
