Exped Schnozzel

rated 4 of 5 stars A dual-purpose pack liner that works incredibly well as a fill bag for your sleeping pad. Marmot Never Winter

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Warmer than its rating, lighter than many and bullet proof. This bag is definitely warmer than its rating. In a hammock at negative 8 degrees Celcius (I'm from the UK) I was plenty warm enough in long johns and a fleece jacket. No draughts or cold spots I could find and nothing scratchy in your face when bundled up. I'm short and wide, so I don't reach the footbox completely, but I like the extra space at the shoulders. I like to turn IN the bag, not have the bag turn with me. The zip is full length… Full review

Ozark Trail Sleeping Bag

rated 1 of 5 stars I bought the zero degree bag and nearly froze to death. It cost me a thru hike last year. This is more like a 40 degree bag rating. Day one, night one...the zipper tore and cord in hood broke. It was 4 degrees and I nearly froze. Day 2 ...it was closer to 6 degree and I froze...I had to hike into town, replace the bag. Not worth using as toilet paper. I could have gotten better quality from a teenager's home ec project and lighter weight. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless I wanted… Full review

Kelty Camp Pillow

rated 4 of 5 stars Have two. Very comfortable. A very good low priced pillow. Takes up a bit of room even when in stuff sack. The less bulky option is an inflatable pillow. Like all of my Kelty products, well made at a great price. Full review

Big Agnes Air Core SL

rated 4.5 of 5 stars A very nice three-season pad. Packs down to the size of a large water bottle. I have both the long rectangle and the mummy. Not self inflating so it takes some effort to fill. The packed size is amazingly small. Comes with a repair kit in end of stuff sack. A bit slippery when fully inflated. Full review

Wiggy's Sleeping Bag

rated 2 of 5 stars Military style robustness, but not up to its temperature rating. I had the flexible temperature range sleeping system: i.e. two bags that are made to fit into each other (the outer bag has an additional zipper to mate with the zip of the inner bag). The idea of a sleeping system was the reason I bought the bags. The inner bag was supposed to be warm down to -15°C or so: i froze my ass of around 0°C. The combination of both is rated -40°C (=-40°F). I quit a trip in -15°C, because it wouldn't… Full review

Exped Synmat WinterLite

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This Synmat Winterlite WL is excellent. Is does not ''mummy taper" as aggressively as others, so Lside-back-Rside rolling is not going to worm you off at night. NOR do the side baffles collapse, in fact they taper convexly to keep you in. R value is INTELLIGENT in design as the mat does not conduct cold air due to the complete insulation perimeter. Read Ashleigh's review: it's an excellent assessment. Ashleigh does an INCREDIBLY USEFUL review because of the factors she includes: sleeping, handling… Full review

Marmot Men's Trestles 15

rated 4 of 5 stars At entry-level price and above entry-level quality, this is an excellent 3-season bag that can withstand mild winter temps. It's just not very lightweight at 4 lbs. Conditions: I bought this bag nearly five years ago because of an increased interest I was taking in colder weather trips and my Marmot Alpine 40 Minimalist wasn’t cutting it for lower temps. However, I liked my previous Marmot bag, so I stayed with the brand (and price range) instead of going all-in on a down bag. Someday I hope… Full review

Exped Synmat WinterLite

rated 4 of 5 stars We all know that winter camping gear can really weigh our packs down. Exped thinks your winter sleeping pad shouldn’t have to! This spring, they are releasing the lightest 4-season pad available, the 13.9 ounce SynMat WinterLite. It boasts a 4.9 R-value that will keep you warm to 1 degree F. In addition to keeping you super warm, its extra-wide vertical baffles are a lofty 3.5 inches thick to keep your body away from the cold ground. Best For: The Exped SynMat WinterLite is best for those who… Full review
