Mountain Warehouse Everest Down Sleeping Bag

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Bought specifically for Kilimanjaro (so generally expected dry weather). Did the job, but I won't be using it again as it didn't really survive washing afterwards (Kili is very dusty). Warmth: Never felt cold unlike some of my teammates. I did use it with an Exped inflatable mat, which I think made a big difference. Fit & Comfort: Pretty good, no scratchy bits. Found it most comfortable when worn with a base layer as has been mentioned it's not very breathable. Entry & Exit: ip is not very… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Lamina Z Flame 22°

rated 2 of 5 stars Seems very damp, clammy non breathable. Poor zipper. Thermal zoning is nonsense. Good quality construction, but uncomfortable due to above. Great construction quality, but the thermal zoning idea is the invention of a very clever monkey. It makes the bag hot in some places and cold in others, so the comfortable temperature range of this bag is limited. I have tested this bag extensively and had the same results almost every time. When I first tried it out it was like sleeping in a non-breathable… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Men's NeoAir XLite

rated 4 of 5 stars Ultralight and highly compact, this pad is exceptionally warm for its weight. It doesn't merit five stars because I don't feel personally confident about its longterm durability, and it's crackly enough that very light sleepers will need earplugs at night. At $159, I consider it worth the money. The 2016 model has new material and is rectangular, so check that out as well. This pad rocks for ultralighters and isn't half bad for the creature-comforts crowd. How do I know? I'm a picky, cold-sleeping,… Full review

Sea to Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Mat

rated 4 of 5 stars I have the Sea to Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Mat. I have used it on two AT section hikes. Overall I like it, but... I have the insulated mat regular size in rectangle. Of the two sections I hikes I did with this mat the first was in the early spring we hiked from NOC to Fontana Dam. It got really rather cold at night and the pad did very well. I was still cold and did not have a great night sleep, but it would have sooo much worse without that pad. It inflates quickly and the double-sided eggshell… Full review

The North Face Men's Thunderhead 3D

rated 3.5 of 5 stars A nice lightweight entry level synthetic bag for 3-season camping. I bought this bag for my son and he has used it for the past 3 years. He really enjoyed it but has recently traded in for an upgraded model. I have used this bag a minimum of 5 times myself ranging from spring to fall. We compared notes and this is what we have come up with: Warmth: The bag is rated to 20°F. North Face touts, "Whether you’re camping in a goliath blizzard or huddling against cold, damp air, this awesome 20° bag… Full review

Snugpak Insulated Jungle Travel Blanket

rated 5 of 5 stars It did exactly what I wanted it to. It provided a small package and a nice, big, perfect temp and performance item. It can be kept in the car for a blanket to lie on or watch the stars or used sitting around on those chilly nights around the campfire or even by the fireplace. The uses are endless. I had seen the previous post and I already am a fan of Snugpak and own the jungle bag. Well, I found one for $24.50 and to be honest just needed a temporary blanket for my bed, so why not? It was instant… Full review

Kelty Weekender Pad

rated 5 of 5 stars This pad rocks. I have two of them. For the price you can't beat it, I have taken it backpacking four nights on Isle Royale, multiple weeks spent in Colorado backcountry, West Virginia, and so on. This sleeping pad provides enough insulation to keep you warm on colder nights. The only problem I have had is a leak occurring from the fabric right where the nozzle is (these leaks occurred on fourth use and somewhere around the 20th use). This happened to both of my pads, but was easily fixed with a… Full review

Wilderness Experience Latok

rated 5 of 5 stars The Latok was the first non-quilted Gore-Tex sleeping bag ever made. I designed it for Jim Donini's expedition to Latok 1 in Pakistan in the late '70s. WE didn't make very many, so enjoy your Latok as much as I have, cheers Greg Thomsen co-Founder Wilderness Experience. The Latok is a very warm sleeping bag because the outer shell is a non-quilted layer of Gore-Tex fabric—so no heat loss through the quilt lines. There is also a layer of aluminized foil sandwiched between the Polarguard insulation… Full review

NEMO Fillo

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Best inflatable camping pillow. Second to None. Your significant other will thank you when you wake up the next day and you got a Big Grin on your face. Then you will go out and buy another one because it was confiscated from you. It's small enough to even take backpacking. Your significant other will wonder why the Big Grin on your face the next morning. Then you will go out and buy another one because it was confiscated from you by her. (Nemo better pay me for this review.) It's small enough… Full review
