Wilderness Experience Solo Glacier Down sleeping bag

rated 5 of 5 stars Used this bag for two weeks in Alaska caribou hunting and several trips to Colorado elk hunting and it worked great. Had a storm in Alaska, temp dropped to 15 and had 60 MPH winds so strong they collapsed a dome tent with fiber glass poles to the floor. Curled up in bag and slept all night while partner laid awake all night cold and uncomfortable. I bought the long one even though I am short, 5'6". It gives me room for clothes in the bottom without interfering with sleeping room. Very warm and comfortable,… Full review

The North Face Men's Blue Kazoo

rated 5 of 5 stars Quality construction, great value. I purchased my Blue Kazoo in 1986 (yes, almost 29 years ago) and have used it, on average, 10 nights a year for backpacking. It has failed to keep me warm only once while winter camping in the Rockies when temps dipped outside my tent to about -10°F. Granted, on nights when temps dip below about 25°F, I start putting on long undergarments to sleep, but doing so has kept me toasty in this bag down to about 0°F. Most recently I slept outside at about 11,000 feet… Full review

Klymit Static V

rated 5 of 5 stars Why sleep poorly anymore? Was searching for more comfort sleeping outside, was gonna buy the NeoAir until I saw this product by Klymit. $45 delivered to my door two years ago. Weight was as advertised. Yeah, you gotta blow it up, but who cares. Size of a Nalgene, 19 oz, $45, and 2.5 inches of snoozing joy! Full review

ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake 20

rated 4 of 5 stars The ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake +20F sleeping bag is warm and comfortable, relatively roomy, and retains its loft very well. It's one of the few sleeping bags I've ever used with an accurate temperature rating. I picked up this sleeping bag in late spring, but it was too warm to use until just about a month ago. In that time I've used it maybe 15 nights, in temps ranging from around 40°F to 16-18°F, and am pretty impressed with it. I like it enough that I bought an ALPS Mountaineering Echo… Full review

Kelty Men's SB 20

rated 5 of 5 stars Testing the SB20 down to 13 degrees. After an exhaustive search for a shoulder season bag, I stumbled across the SB20 on sale and couldn't pass it up. I had looked at the Montbell bags, which were heavier and not as warm. The Western Mountaineering Alpinlite was 2 oz lighter, but was more than double the price at $540. Not a good price per ounce saved in my opinion. I knew that Kelty made bombproof backpacks, but I've never considered one of their bags, because they've always been too heavy. Full review

Klymit Insulated Static V

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Overall, not bad. It packs up small and is very light. I weigh 210 and did not bottom out the pad in any position. It is very comfortable. The only issue I ran into was deflating the pad when it was time to pack up. Numerous attempts to get all the air out even with the valve completely open and unblocked. The temperatures I used this pad in were ranging between 5 and 15 degrees F over one week. Honestly, I could not tell a difference between this pad and my summer pad. I was using a very… Full review

L.L.Bean Down Sleeping Bag with DownTek, Rectangular 20°

rated 4 of 5 stars Very happy with the flexibility we have with these sleeping bags. Good product! There are very few conventional rectangular sleeping bags out there that are insulated with down. You'll find a few if you look where hunters shop; and you'll find a few in the Western Mountaineering catalog. Other than those I think these L.L. Bean sleeping bags are the main option for rectangular bag dimensions, and flexibility, without the bulk and weight of synthetic insulation. My wife and I have had a pair of these… Full review

Big Agnes Two Track

rated 5 of 5 stars The best pad, period. Just attach it under the lid at the top of you pack, and you are good to go. A pad that keeps you warm down to -25 degrees. Comes with a repair kit in the stuff sack. Will need to blow a bit of air into the pad after it self inflates, especially if you've stored it in it's stuff sack. Used it recently in sub 40 degree weather, and had a Lafuma 35-degree bag zipped around my feet and then unzipped and draped over my body and I was very comfortable. To pack down to its smallest… Full review

The North Face Aleutian 50/10

rated 4 of 5 stars Great price. Packs down very small. A very good warm weather bag. Can fit it in a small Kelty compression bag (color listed as Curry). Packs down to smaller than 10" x 5". Full review
