I've owned the non-Salt version of this knife for some time. It is an excellent basic design. I've since upgraded (so to speak) to this 'salt' version.
I wanted the knife for water sports (both sea kayaking and scuba). And the key features for me were: ability to cut through rope, netting, etc. - and do it an ocean/river/lake environment. I wanted a 'rescue'-style blade (sheepsfoot) with a fully serrated edge.
The original version (non-'salt') does these things admirably. However, it would corrode with any exposure to salt water. The 'salt' version stands up admirably to exposure to salt water - although even with the salt version, you wouldn't want to just stick it in your BC or paddling vest and just forget about it. You still want to take care of it, wash it at the end of the day, etc.
But back to functionality: this knife has 1 very basic function. It will absolutely rip through even very thick ropes - even cutting underwater. It's light, the plastic casing gives excellent sure-handed grip. It opens well with one hand. The clip works well to keep it secure. It's a very well designed and executed product.
