Camp Chef Everest 2-Burner Camp Stove

rated 5 of 5 stars Great stove, excellent build quality. Nice even heating. Great car camping stove. I purchased this stove to replace an older Coleman model that I had, and I have to say I am glad I did. This stove is perfect for car camping, in fact I even purchased an extension hose and use it on the side of my Coleman Pop Up camper as an external stove. It works amazing! The burners light instantly, they provide nice even heat, and they are adjustable from a slow simmer all the way up to 'instant charcoal'. This… Full review

Esbit Pocket Stove

rated 4 of 5 stars This product is a good alternative to alcohol stoves and butane stoves. It packs up about the same volume as the other stoves, although its shape I think makes it pack better. My first use and impressions of the Esbit Pocket Stove are mixed. In some ways I think it's better than a butane stove and burner or the alcohol stove. Weight is not so much of a factor either way. Meaning, the Esbit stove is light enough, but the solid fuel blocks add up in weight, as realistically you've got to carry one… Full review

Solo Stove Lite

rated 5 of 5 stars Quick easy way for a meal or coffee for one (possibly two) using just a few dry sticks, pinecones, cattails, etc. Very little smoke if tinder is dry. Can also be used with an alcohol stove as backup. A little expensive but well made! Easy to pack and use if tinder is dry. Plenty of flame which you can't really control other than by adding more or less fuel. Can boil quickly in around 5-7 min with dry fuel. Windscreen is adequate and burner is stable on a flat surface. I really like mine! Full review

Optimus Crux Weekend HE Cook System

rated 4 of 5 stars Exceptional stove for both the weekender or the serious through-hiker. Great quality at a competitive price. This stove is perfect for those of you wanting to get into backpacking without spending a fortune. That said, this is not a cheaply built product. I find myself taking this everywhere, even on fishing trips just to show off making coffee for those long all-nighters that I like to pull. Setup: Included mesh bag contains the pot and lid, which doubles as a smaller cook pot. Inside of that you… Full review

Vargo Triad Alcohol Stove

rated 3.5 of 5 stars It works in the tropics where I backpack. Best for boiling water, but one has to be extra careful in putting the pot on the pot support or it will tip over. I love this stove. But it can only be appreciated by ultralight hikers who bring dehydrated and other add-water only types of food. Essentially, I use this for boiling water.  If one prepares food the old way, with lots of stirring and turning, better get something else. The pot, balanced on the three pot supports, can easily tip over… Full review

BioLite CampStove Grill

rated 4 of 5 stars Greatly improves the usefulness of the BioLite CampStove 2. Tricky to get the heat right. Use aluminum foil as cover to retain heat. Tips: use aluminum foil to cover food and keep heat in around meat don't use dish soap to keep soot off—makes food taste odd add lightweight tongs and a lighter to your stuff sack Full review

Toaks Titanium Backpacking Wood Burning Stove (small)

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Super light titanium wood gas stove, this is the smaller version, and fits nicely into a Toaks 750ml pot making a 250 g cook kit that you don't have to carry fuel for. Will burn twigs, sticks, pinecones, almost anything you're going to find on the forest floor.                     The stove nests in the Toaks 750 ml pot in its own nylon stuff sack.                       The stove is made up of three piece and is simple to assemble.                    It takes about… Full review

Optimus Crux Lite

rated 5 of 5 stars Very light, very small, very fast boil time. Has some adjustment to flame. We use this to boil water in a GSI kettle (looks like the Optimus kettle). It is very fast. The stove fits inside the kettle for storage.   We also make espresso with a small stove-top Italian espresso maker. It works great for that as the maker has a small diameter and doesn't work well with our other stove.   We start it with a fire steel—starts one strike, no problem.    Our pots have grooves in the bottom. This… Full review

Coleman Feather 442 Dual Fuel Stove

rated 4.5 of 5 stars It still works! I purchased this stove in 1989 and used it extensively for 10 years in heat, wet, and cold...then I got married and lost it in a box. On a recent camping trip I dug this thing out and blew the dust off of it. It still had fuel in it...about a half tank. I pumped it up, turned it on, and what do you know, the thing still worked like a champ. Used it for four days without a hitch. In one word, this thing is bulletproof. I've been looking at all of these new fancy canister stoves and… Full review
