Tecnica Pegasus Dry

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Pegasus Dry has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2024.

I've owned these for over a year of heavy use and they still work great! They fit my large/wide feet just right from the start and the waterproofing has yet to fail. I've used them for almost everying including Olympic National Seashore (salt water!), lava flows in Iceland (truly tested the vibram soles here) and with strap-on crampons in the Presidentials.

They tend to hit their limit for me with a 40+lb pack going up steep trails, then my heels start getting roughed up a bit. I have barely gotten more than a hot spot on my feet though from these boots. Great support and very rugged.

Materials: Leather

I got these on clearance for a steal! They have great support and you can feel the slight forward gripping motion the soles create when walking on pavement, especially downhill. Had absolutely no problem for a week in CO as well as several day hikes. Have crossed shallow 4-5" streams & never a leak. I bought these under recommendation of the clerk, who owned a pair himself, and I'm glad I did. I will never have a need to by a different brand. By all means, get them if you can. They have already outlasted the 2 pairs of Vasque my partner has gone through!

Materials: LEATHER
Use: ROUGH TRAIL / MED TO HVY PACK
Break-in Period: a few days
Price Paid: $90 (eat your heart out!)

This is an awesome pair of boots! I have done a ton of packing in them in many conditions I love them. They stay very dry and thier support is incredible. I have had them for about a year and have put about 500 miles on them and they still look brand new! I recommend them to anyone who needs a little extra support!

I love this boot. I am heavy and have a bad ankle. I started training for a big trip with asolo posidens, I hated the boots , I could not break them in and developed dead tonails. I switched to the tecnica's and fell in love with the support and flexability. Water resisdent too.

These are the best boots I have ever owned. Excellent lateral support.
