photo: The North Face Beeline 3-season down sleeping bag

Beeline faces heavy competition to be the lightest down sleeping bag on the market. I think 30F bags are probably the best choice for three seasons especially warm sleepers. I have tried 35F and 40F bags, but I did get cold during late fall season.

Marmot Atom is top rated by Backpacker Magazine and Outside Magazine for quality, weight, and performance. But it is rated down to 40F. This was the ultimate factor which Beeline was my final choice.

I am 5'11" and about 168Lbs and although this bag is zipperless, I can easily slide right in and wiggle around at night. I don't miss the zipper at all. The elastic cords around the hood easily shortened or elongated. This bag is so light it feels like I am floating (little over 1Lb). The shell is so soft it looks delicate, but it is tough enough for me.

Well made bag. I think 30F is a bit overrated for warm sleepers. I did sleep one night when it was about mid 30's and I was little cold (I am a warm sleeper). I would rate this bag as a 35F bag. It compressed to size of a large grapefruit.

I love this bag. Beautiful, well made, light, can't go wrong! Marmot Atom, you have met your match! :)

Quite possibly the perfect bag for quick and extremely light weight assaults in mild conditions. This bag has a TON of Pro's!

Weight:
What weight? It is so light you don't even realize you have it in your pack and I carry it on most mountain assaults just in case I want to stay warm on the summit. TNF even heat transfered their logo onto the bag to save threadcount weight.

Packability:
You can pack this bag down to the size of a softball if needed.

Sleep:
It is cut a bit tight to save weight and maximize heat so I would NOT recommend this bag for anyone that is claustrophobic. With NO side zipper this over sized potato sack could give you the impression of a straight jacket if you are not use to close quarters. There is however a vaulted footbox with a half dome zipper so you can sneak your toes out on warm nights or maneuver around the camp fire without fully exiting the bag (great touch).

Other Cool Features:
The hood cinch cord truly is a one hand operation. No zippers = no draft issues = better night sleep

All around this is an amazing bag and is exactly what I was looking for when I was looking for a lightweight bag.

This bag is sweet! packs down to a grapefruit and is properly rated for temp. I can even squeeze colder temps if I layer up and boil water to snuggle with.

I don't mind the short zipper situation for weight and insulation boost. It may take a sec to adjust from a full zip, but warmth to weight/pack size makes up for the lack of a "quilt" style full zip.

For ultralight this is the way to go. this bag makes the top 10... in fact i think it's 6th for sleeping bags on backpackinglight.com gear reviews.

To sum it up this is a great bag to add to a COLLECTION of bags so you can choose depending on your trip. Price point is very comparable to others of its own class.
