This is a great jacket for multiple sporting/aerobic activities. It's my opinion that the Cipher Hybrid is a better jacket than the Mammut Ultimate Hoody.
I returned the Mammut Ultimate because it wasn't warm as advertised. I was standing around in 50 degree weather awaiting my cross-country runner to finish a race and I was chilled in the Mammut Ultimate Hoody.
The North Face Cipher is about $100 less and made better. Just feel both jackets and you'll see what I mean.
The only 'knock' I have about the North Face Cipher is that the jacket could use an internal zip pocket, but overall this is the perfect jacket for hiking, snowshoeing, and utilizing as a mid-weight under a shell for temps in the 20's or lower.
I use a Patagonia Capilene base layer, the Nano Puff Pullover, and the Cypher Jacket when I'm out snowshoeing. Within a mile I'm unzipping the long front pull zips for ventilation. The Cypher sheds light rain and the hem cinches to keep in warmth.
This is a great piece of equipment for any outdoor enthusist and a great value too. I can't say enough good/positive things about the North Face Cypher Hybrid jacket.
Note: the Mammut Ultimate Hooded Jacket recieves positive results, but I've owned both jackets and the North Face is much superior in so many ways from fit, to warmth, to function, etc.
