The North Face Free Thinker Bib
Where to Buy
Here's what other sites are saying:
Ripping down never-ending powder runs and crushing vert miles calls for waterproof bibs that can take all-day abuse in the backcountry. The bib front can be unzipped for improved ventilation, or it can be removed entirely if you only want to use the built-in suspenders. A durable, waterproof 2L HyVent twill exterior has a DWR (durable water resistant) exterior to shed moisture when you re skiing deep and steep territory. Relaxed fit provides extra room throughout the leg so you can dig deep while driving though turns. Belt loops are clip-in compatible with select jackets from TNF to seal out wind, the cold, and moisture, whether you re skiing in whiteout conditions or you wipe out on the slopes. If an avalanche is triggered, the nearly weightless embedded RECCO transponder in these pants can be pinpointed by the detectors carried by the rescue team.

Rugged and ready, The North Face Free Thinker Bib shell pants are built to withstand demanding use on big, steep mountains, offering highly breathable Gore-Tex(R) Pro protection to keep you dry. Gore-Tex Pro 3-layer construction delivers excellent waterproof, windproof and highly breathable protection to keep you dry and comfortable, even in harsh conditions. Detachable bib offers waterproof protection, adjustable suspenders and a touch of stretch for comfort; use bib for added warmth and protection or remove it if it's not needed. Embedded RECCO(R) reflector enhances radio signals from search-and-rescue RECCO detectors, helping speed up the search for a buried avalanche victim. The North Face Free Thinker Bib shell pants adjust via waist tabs for a comfortable fit; zippered inner thigh vents let you dump excess heat and provide cooling ventilation. Internal stretch gaiters have gripper elastic and boot hooks to keep gaiters in place and prevent snow from entering legs; cuffs also have zip gussets for use over boots. Reinforced cuffs stand up to sharp edges and abrasion; backsides of cuffs can be hitched up via internal "Lot Lift System" to avoid uneccesary cuff wear when walking. Water-resistant zippers on the two hand pockets and two cargo pockets help keep contents dry. Clip-in tabs let you connect the bib shell pants to a compatible jacket (sold separately) for an integrated, protective barrier.

Skiing in the backcountry everyday (every safe day, that is) requires some serious ski pants, and The North Face Men's Free Thinker Bib Pant fits your big backcountry bill. A Gore-Tex Pro membrane and fully taped seams give the pant waterproof and breathable protection, and a HyVent membrane with fully taped seams brings waterproof and breathable protection to the bib so your upper doesn't get soggy and sad. A relaxed fit leaves plenty of room in the Free Thinker for many mid-layers on the coldest days in winter, and the belt loops and waist tabs help you cinch the waist tightly regardless of the amount of layers you have on. Both the bib and the pant have ventilation zippers to let out some steam while you hike up those powder-capped peaks. You can remove the bib and suspenders for a sunny day at the ski resort. The North Face integrated a zipper at the reinforced cuffs to help you pull the pant over your boots, and the stretchy gaiters hook to your boots in order to completely seal out any snow. The cargo pockets feature the Loft Lift System that reduces bulk in ways that cargo pants don't. Water-resistant zippers on the pockets and vents help keep you dry in ways that most ski pants don't.
