The North Face Hedgehog Mid GTX XCR

Looks cool. Definitely recommended for slow walks in the park or airing the dog, pretty much unfit for any other type of activity.

Designed like a summer type hiking shoes (why use XCR?) these does not ensure enough ventilation during walking nothing to say about running, not stable enough for scrambling and worst of all these fancy rubber grips on sole are gone after couple of days of moderate pace hiking.

I went for 4 days leisurely hike in Mallorca (it is not like TMB or Caucasus god forbid)- that was it, shoes still look somewhat OK but are completely unusable for what they were designed for.

Do not buy.

Pros:

1. Waterproof, quick dry.

2. I have found these to have very good gripping with the Vibram soles the way they're made.

Cons:

1. Very crappy lacing pegs, posts, eyelets, or whatever TNF calls them made out of plastic, and if your going to replace the laces-which you will because they're crap-you have to use needlenose pliers to pull them through the eyelets.

2. The forward part of the sole that rests below the front ball of your feet directly behind your toes will allow you to feel any above average rock you step on in the trailway. The Vibram soles are thin up front.

3. XCR? where?

Don't waste your money.

Fantastic lightweight boot - Used on coastal multi day hiking in rugged Cornwall UK for 6 nonstop days and 100 miles from new - No break in period and no blisters - Shoes were dry on each morning and very comfortable, grippy and stable.

Next I did 50 miles in 24 hour in them, and again - faultless performance. Excellent low level hiking boot. Don't buy them and expect to get to the top of the Eiger - because that is not what these are about!
