User Review: The North Face Heli Vest
Rating: ![]()
Fabric: Gore-Tex
Price Paid: $250 Full Retail
This was a weird piece I picked up at The North Face Outlet in San Francisco about five years ago. It's a lot like a fishing vest, but it's made out of nylon and Gore-Tex, and has an integrated climbing harness and hydration bladder. The name suggests its propsed role: a vest/climbing harness to be used for heli skiing and mountaineering. It's packed with other features like an internal CB radio holder, about a couple dozen pockets, and straps for attaching your skis and poles to your back. This is easily the most over-engineered item that I have ever seen from The North Face. But, I love the thing.
