User Review: The North Face Mt. Erebus Jacket

The North Face Mt. Erebus Jacket
Above: The current Mt. Erebus Jacket, which may differ slightly from the version reviewed.

Rating: rated 4 of 5 stars
Fabric: nylon/hyvent membrane
Fill: goose down
Price Paid: $145

The Mt. Erebus is the coat you want to wear in extreme life threatening conditions. In recent days the chill factor in Buffalo has been 20 below while I used the snow blower and shoveled the roof. This parka keeps me toasty warm. I expect it would handle 30 below in stride.

My biggest complaint is the non-adjustable hood. The fake fur ruff will unzip, but a genuine coyote ruff would be much better. I have not tested the waterproof 'hyvent' membrane, but it sheds blowing snow without any problem. North Face quality. I think you could bet your life on this coat.
