Here's what other sites are saying:

From Altrec Outdoors:
"Made to fit a range of outdoor lifestyles, the waterproof and breathable Pinyon XCR Mid Multisport Shoe is a weather-ready, do-it-all design that's perfect for camping, light hiking and doing anything fun outside. It's a utility design that specializes in nothing except weather protection, although The North Face did incorporate key components from their best trail running shoes. Beneath the rugged, waterproof and breathable exterior is a Gore-Tex XCR membrane that's seam sealed around an ergonomic multi-density X-2 footbed. Inside the heel of the compression-molded EVA midsole is an X-202 air pod to minimize heel strike impact. There's also an injection molded TPU shank plate that helps optimize stability on uneven surfaces. The Pinyon XCR Mid Multisport is a great shoe for outdoor enthusiasts who specialize in nothing other than keeping their feet dry and comfortable."

From Backcountry Outlet:
"The North Face Men's Pinyon XCR Mid Hiking Shoe is geared to meet the demands of the multi-sport athlete. The North Face designed the multi-purpose Pinyon XCR Mid for efficient travel over mixed terrain. The Pinyon has a durable, waterproof nubuck leather upper and waterproof synthetic nubuck underlay making it tough enough for fast-paced hiking or trail-running. The Pinyon's fully seam-sealed construction and the Gore-Tex XCR waterproof, breathable membrane ensures dry feet on the soggiest trails. The lightweight, long-lasting Vibram outsole means the Pinyon will effortlessly charge through scree, rocky surfaces, and trail debris."

From EMS:
"The North Face Pinyon is taller than the typical trail shoe but lower in the ankle than most boots, this waterproof hybrid offers solid underfoot support. Ideal for multisport use over varied terrain. Included in The North Face's Flight Series (ultralight, multipurpose apparel, equipment, and footwear). Gore-Tex XCR is 25% more breathable than regular Gore-Tex. Nubuck leather upper with breathable synthetic panels. X-2 ergonomically-designed, multi-density footbed. Anitmicrobial footbed inhibits odors and disease-causing bacteria. Injection-molded TPU shank plate protects foot underneath. Molded rubber external heel counter; reinforced toebox; gusseted tongue. Exclusive, lightweight Vibram rubber outsole."

From REI:
"AgION anti-microbial silver threads in linings help prevent buildup of odor. Lightweight, compression-molded EVA midsoles deliver all-day cushioning and shock-absorption. Natural and synthetic nubuck leather uppers with ballistic nylon panels are flexible, lightweight and waterproof. Reinforced toe boxes and molded rubber heel counters protect uppers from abrasion; gusseted and padded tongues keep out debris and add comfort. Removable X-2 footbeds with AgION topsheets add cushioning and odor control. Seam-sealed Gore-Tex XCR inserts with wicking nylon linings offers water protection while allowing moisture vapor to pass through. The North Face Pinyon XCR mid-cut cross-trainers deliver supportive, waterproof performance for fast-paced outdoor endeavors. Thermoplastic-urethane arch and forefoot protection plates add torsional rigidity and protection from uneven terrain. Vibram rubber outsoles supply dependable traction and braking on uneven terrain. X-2 O2 air pods in heels provide an added measure of cushioning and protection, soaking up shock with every stride."

"They'd be perfect if they were built better. It's the perfect cross between moccasin and off trail hiking boot and has the best sole in the industry. Other than that, their durability is lousy. The stitching starts breaking and the sole starts coming un-glued after less than 10 miles of moderate hiking."

"Shoe is comfortable from first wearing---BUT- after 3 hikes the front of sole started to delaminate and tread nubs were breaking off. If I took this shoe on a month-long hike, I'd be barefoot before it was over. Save your $$$"

"One of the most comfortable shoes I've every owned, including tennis shoes and sneakers!! They fit like a charm from the very first time I put them on, the ride feels like walking on air. I am in the snow quite often and they are sealed up tight, never leaking or letting in any water, my foot has never been wet whatsoever. Short put, a great shoe in all regards!!"
