The rule of thumb I use with any footwear is how they feel the first time you put them on. They passed that test with flying colours. I walk a lot in rocky forests in the heat and I find the lightness and grip saves my feet. Shame I can't buy them online in the US as in OZ you have to wait for sales and even you get rrrrripped off.
