U.S. Military Corcoran Desert Boot

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Corcoran Desert Boot is an American made version of the popular U.S. Military Desert Boot. Like all genuine milspec desert boots, the upper is made of genuine leather and cordura, with padded top, and a carbon rubber outsole. Unlike some others, the Corcoran sole features shallow lugs that for me provide excellent traction on both loose rock, while still able to stay on top of deep sand. It has a very nice upper ankle height of 8", lower than most military boots but still a 'high-top' by commercial backpacking boot standards.

This Corcoran boot has been by far the best boot I've found for backpacking with heavier loads in hot, dry desert country. Although no lightweight, it does offer great support, comfort, insulation from heat and, unlike most civilian boots, the high tops and one-piece tongue keep out sand very well in dune country.
