Pico Lantern

rated 4 of 5 stars Light-enough, bright-enough >120 lumen, four AA battery-powered hanging mini-lantern. Get it only if it's cheap. It's a water-resistant, shock-resistant, sturdy, compact, cheap (I got it for $10 from GearTrade.com + shipping) three-mode, battery-powered hanging lantern. It's a good light for what it is. It's great for camping, I routinely use it walking around my house looking for our dogs off sniffing game where I live in the mountains and it's great at throwing out a nice even aura of light… Full review

Base Tube Tarp 1.0

rated 5 of 5 stars A light and simple emergency shelter. I got this as part of the 10 Essentials prize pack as a 2016 Trailspace Reviewer of the Month. I haven't used it on some emergency situation since I luckily haven't had one. But I have set it up just to get familiar with it. The color is right to get easily spoted when waiting for resque and the weight is, as expected, very low. I think it was at around 700gr. Perfect for carrying as a safety net on an imminent bad weather. All it takes is two trees to make… Full review

BlastMatch

rated 4 of 5 stars Excellent for campfires, but for stoves... All right, I admit it. I bought one of these after seeing it on "Naked and Afraid." Please note, in the woods, I am only occasionally naked and never afraid. However, this item looked like it could be handy even for someone clothed and composed. Being seduced, I did buy. If nothing else I figured I could argue about it with cronies. Come to think, I guess I am doing that now. It is basically a standard, thick magnesium composite bar with a steel striker… Full review

Delta Shockproof Lighter

rated 5 of 5 stars I bought it new. Upon receiving, my wife washed it when she put the pants into the washer without checking the pockets. The cap was locked and the safety lock was on. When I realized it got soaked inside the washer, I took a look at the butane chamber. There was dampness inside and I left the lighter three consecutive days inside the house without closing the lid. The dampness disappeared at the end. I then read the specification and kind of understood the high quality butane requirement. A friend… Full review

StrikeForce

rated 5 of 5 stars This is one of the best fire starters I have ever owned. The shower of sparks that are emitted is amazing and if the tinder you are using is flammable it will light. This fire starter is ideal for survival, outdoor/adverse fire starting conditions I highly recommend this fire starter to anyone who spends time outside and is building fires or practicing survival skills. I am a true believer in the UST StrikeForce fire starter. The ferrocerium rod and striker bar emit by far one the best shower of… Full review
