"The Vasque Ion is a high-performance approach shoe that's perfectly suited to 5.2 scrambling, use as a light trail hiker, and everyday urban missions. Starting from the bottom up, the Ion features the famous Stealth sticky rubber found in Five Ten's climbing shoes. THE highest friction rubber available, Stealth's unique compounds allow you to grip the trail or rock like no other material, while providing maximum shock absorption on the go. Integrated components throughout the midsole provide incredible support: a nylon shank provides both flex and stiffness, and a tri-density compression molded EVA midsole is softer under the forefoot, stiffest on the outside of the heel to prevent pronation, and supportive under the heel for optimal durability. A high-quality contoured EVA footbed provides a supportive arch and heel cup that frankly blows other stock footbeds out of the water. "I put these on and basically walked 500 km in Spain and was one of the few who didn't have a blister. They are amazingly ocmfortable and sturdy. However I did have leakage and suspect that the Gore-tex is faulty and I will ask Vasque to replace. But comfort-wise they are amazing."
