Katadyn Pocket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This product, although one of the more robust filters I have used, is by far the easiest to field maintain and produces a significant higher flow rate (1 quart/min) compared to other filters I have used in the past. The construction is rock solid and for those that do moderate backpacking it will be the only filter you will ever need as it has the capability of filtering over 10,000 gallons of water. In my opinion Katadyn products are backed by one of the industry’s best warranties and have earned… Full review

Katadyn Hiker PRO

rated 5 of 5 stars Simple and reliable, a must have for every trek. Even in high sediment content of the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon the same filter was flawless on two separate multi-day treks for four hikers. I have used my filter in as deep as five feet of water and (by digging a small hole) in as little as 1 inch of flowing streams. Even with a lifetime of 1500 liters of water filtered, it is as simple as unscrewing the one-piece canister via built-in finger grip twists and dropping in the… Full review

Katadyn Hiker PRO

rated 5 of 5 stars Compact, lightweight, and field cleanable, the Katadyn Hike PRO is in the top three of my favorite pieces of backpacking/hiking equipment. It's reliable and tough and the cost is reasonable. The Katadyn Hiker PRO will take up more space in your pack than a Steripen, but it's a heck of a lot faster, tougher, your water will taste and look better, and it doesn't require batteries. My better half and I always take this filter with us, whether we're on a day hike or backpacking into the backcountry. Full review

Katadyn Base Camp

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Not meant for day or thru hikes, but as the name implies, it's a really good gravity filter for base camping. Make sure you carefully seat the filter cartridge before screwing it in or you'll get leaks that have a tendency to run down the hose and contaminate your container. I hate pumping water, especially when base camping. Either you make countless trips to the creek/river/lake, or you spend a lot of time at water's edge filling as many containers as you have. The Katadyn Base Camp allows you… Full review

Katadyn Gravity Camp 6L

rated 5 of 5 stars So much easier to have this gravity filter at the campsite than pumping into water bottles. Great all around for filling water bottles and cleaning up. Details from manufacturer with comments following: Easy-to-use dry bag-style design provides safe, potable water for large groups, base camps and family camping trips -- Yes, it was good for family backcountry camping (three people) at one site. 6-liter water bag with roll-top and side-release buckle closure fills quickly and hangs easily; window… Full review

MSR HyperFlow Microfilter

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The MSR HyperFlow is really great for filtering water on the go. The MSR HyperFlow is great for lightweight travel. It's quick, efficient, and easy to operate. It's very easy for one person to operate alone even with the pump action without contamination because MSR includes a bottle cap to screw right on your water holder and a clean side cover to always keep the clean side clean.  It assembles and cleans quickly and without tools allowing you to fully flush and dry the unit inside for long life. Katadyn Hiker PRO

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Two seasons of use, no issues and very happy with this filter. I've been using this filter for two seasons now and I have had no issues. It has always filtered clean, clear water and I have never had any issues with getting sick. The only thing that worries me is the amount of small parts that come with it; two hoses and multiple bottle adapters. I've read some reviews about how people have had the pump handle break or the hose adapter break. I haven't had those issues. I try not to be too rough… Full review

Katadyn Hiker

rated 2.5 of 5 stars When the Katadyn Hiker works, it does a great job of filtering water into various water containers for 2-3 people. Just be prepared with a backup plan for when it breaks unexpectedly. I've used the Katadyn Hiker the past 5 years on multiple backpacking trips to filter water in streams, creeks, and springs. According to Katadyn, this filter removes bacteria, protozoa, cysts, algae, spores, and sediments. It also reduces bad tastes and odors. In the past 5 years, I've never experienced sickness or… Full review
