Renogy Portable Outdoor Water Filter

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Works well Small, packable, compact Easy assembly Easy care I’m a Ranger for The Dyrt, an awesome campground Application. I received the Renogy Water Filtration System to review and abuse on my recent camping trip. The Renogy Water Filtration system fit easily in my hydration bag. Easy initial assembly and basically three parts to pack. I would suggest pre-assembly due to a few small parts. Then main assembly when you pull it out to use it.  We hiked the Sal Hollow Trail at Mammoth Cave National… Full review

Renogy Portable Outdoor Water Filter

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Sometimes I get the chance to review products in exchange for an honest review. This time, I got one of these filters to take with me on my Appalachian Trail hike, and it worked really well. Not hard to figure out and does what it's supposed to, as long as you follow the directions. Great for backwoods/water/streams etc for filtering water so that it's drinkable. Even if it's slightly dirty. As the member of another website, occasionally, I have the amazing opportunity to test awesome products in… Full review

Sawyer Squeeze

rated 4 of 5 stars I have used this on overnight backpacking and bikepacking trips, as well as big one-day loop hikes. It is fast filtering, and with a little practice/modification, you can get water from almost any source. This filter is fast, and can provide water for a group as the only filter. The most important thing to note is that the pouch is very challenging to fill, especially in moving/very cold water (sticking your hands in alpine streams can be frigid). The best way to solve this is taking a 1G ziplock… Full review

Katadyn Hiker

rated 5 of 5 stars On our second filter replacement, but this Katadyn (PUR) Hiker pump is still going strong after more than 20 years and dozens of trips. This filter just works! No fuss, it just keeps ticking. After dozens of multi-day backpacking trips in the mountains of central Idaho, it finally started to slow down a bit to the point that the input hose would crimp at the point of entry into the filter body. So, we replaced the filter and lubed the seals and plunger, and it felt like new and just kept on chugging. Full review

MSR MiniWorks EX

rated 2 of 5 stars Disappointingly slow, even after cleaning the filter. Okay for a soloist, but definitely too slow to be used by groups greater than two people. It is easy to clean, and the water comes out clear and without bad tastes. I researched water filters for quite a while, and must have just over-thought it all, and ended up overall pretty disappointed with the MSR MiniWorks EX. I really liked the idea of a ceramic filter that was easy to clean and wouldn't need to be replaced for a long time. So, ultimately… Full review

Platypus GravityWorks Filter System 4L

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Super easy to set up, use, and take down. Set it and forget it. Packs really light! Only problem my team had was keeping the closure cap with the system. This filtration system was very effective in filtering water for six people for a three-day overnight camping trip up to Lake Lovely Water.  It took approximately 45 minutes to get 3 litres of filtered water to each member for their hydration packs (18 litres total) and it was easy and fast and we were able to ready our packs while we filtered. MSR Trail Base Water Filter Kit

rated 3.5 of 5 stars The MSR Trail Base Water Filter Kit is a versatile water treatment device with easy pump and gravity flow setups built in. It could conceivably replace your filter, bladder hydration system and a water bottle for many outdoor activities. A couple of reasons I haven’t switched permanently to this system include weight not suited to a solo hiker like me, initial taste issues (like many bladder systems), and an issue with the pump spout/cap. WAIVER:  This is not a recommendation for using or not… Full review

Sawyer Squeeze

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great light water filter for use for up to three people. Need to be careful not to drip dirty water into the clean container you are filling. Overall very easy to use the squeeze bottles that come with the product or I have also hooked up to a Platypus bladder for use as a higher volume squeeze bottle. Good for 1-3 people:I was one of the leaders of a 10-day hike with 15 people in the group and we were using Sawyer Squeeze filters. The filters worked great. The only issue was that the camp did not… Full review

Platypus GravityWorks Filter System 4L

rated 5 of 5 stars Excellent filter, works fast. I have always purchased Cascade Designs (which Platypus is a part of) products whenever I can because of the excellent customer service and excellent products. They won't be the cheapest product around, but I have an MSR WhispeLite stove, BaseCamp pad, Vela HD quilt, and Platypus water filter. When I got this filter from Amazon it was missing the proprietary connection to one of the bags. I called Platypus on a Saturday and a very helpful (English speaking) person… Full review
