Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Fabric: eVent
Price Paid: $199.99

Excellent lightweight shell!! Breathable, packable and comfy. I was shocked at how thin the material is, but it does what's advertised. Keeps the rain off you and packs light (11 oz.).

It wasn't designed for abuse like some heavier shell, due to the light eVent material used, but it was a great jacket for an early morning descent down from Unicorn, Mt Rainier State Park! Check out the Phantom or Mirage, if you're wanting a heavier duty jacket.

The chin area has an enormous soft wrap in the front, more than any other jacket I've tried. Sooo comfy to wear! Haven't put it through any heavy rain, but I'm not worried! eVent rules! This stuff breathes like no other!

If you want an awesome lightweight shell, Westcomb delivers! And they're also pretty informative on the phone with the questions I had, and because their products are still hard to find in person anywhere, you may want to contact them directly.

My one comment would be that the vampire color is a cool, faded cranberry, not the orange or red that it would seem. I like it, but the photos don't really give you a true color to go on. I will be looking at EVERYTHING they put out in the category I need before I look at anything else!

This is very functional and extremely well made jacket.

This is very functional and extremely well made jacket. I am from Vancouver BC and use it for late fall/winter running, cross country skiing and downhill skiing. Rain, wet snow, snow, you know how Coastal Mountains greet you - the jacket can handle it all and it does it rather well.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. When I needed a jacket I was very seriously considering Arc'teryx Alpha. Well, Westcomb has won hands down. And it's made in Canada!

Anyway I better spend saved money on lift tickets if I can buy better product for less money. Highly recommend it.

Just keep in mind that there are no miracles and if it gets cold - layer properly, as you would do with any other shell of course.
