Summary

This kayak is fantastic. Handles with ease, solo or tandem. Great all around kayak with wonderful versatility.

Pros

  • Versatility

Cons

  • A bit heavy

I have had this kayak for three years. This yak is great. Can be switched to solo or tandem by simply moving the front seat to one of the other positions.

I can put it on the roof of my SUV the same way you would a canoe, no special racks needed. The cockpit is very large and the seats are very comfortable with many adjustment options.

When using it in solo mode the balance is great and the storage space is abundant. Tandem or solo it tracks wonderful and glides across the water with minimal effort.

Featuring a swift, stable hull, the Wilderness Systems Pamlico 145T tandem kayak with rudder covers distance with ease. Slightly longer than its 13 ft. 6 in. counterpart, the 145T is designed to cover long distances quickly and features a 550 lb. capacity for 2 paddlers and plenty of gear. You'll love it for exploring ponds and flatwater lakes, slow-moving rivers and gentle waves in open bays. Rock-solid stability makes it perfect for fishing, photography and family paddling, but its efficient design excels at weekend touring, too. Tough polyethylene construction offers high performance and rugged durability. The Phase 3 Air Pro tandem seats offer excellent comfort and intuitive adjustments. Mesh stretched over 3D foam forms a perforated pad; large holes enhance airflow and small holes enhance support for sit bones and lower back. Leg lifter uses handle to shore up space below your legs; back strap lowers seat back, and the angle of backrest is adjustable as well. Front seat easily converts to solo position using an intuitive slide-rail system; foot pegs adjust to provide maneuverability in solo position. When front seat is in solo position, rear seat can be used to stow gear or a small, 4-legged buddy. Roomy cockpit offers comfort and a boat that's easy to get in and out, even for large kayakers. Slide-rail system is comfortable, rugged and easy to adjust; foot pedals adjust with an easily accessible extension rod. Foot-pedal-controlled rudder system with cockpit deployment controls helps you steer and track effectively. Stern hatch with Orbix hatch cover offers easy access to hull storage, and stern bulkhead keeps contents separate from cockpit space. Orbix hatch cover features a hinged design and locking lever; to open hatch, simply slide lever to unlock cover and flip open to access gear.
