About

Hi I'm into cycling and mountaineering. I ride recumbents and have really got into them only recentlyas a result of a neck injury making uprights difficult to ride. I have climbed mountains all over the place. 26, 4000metre peaks in Europe, including the Matterhorn & Mont Blanc. numerous mountains in Norway, some in the Dolomites, Gredos mountains in Spain, Julian Alps in Slovenia, 18, fourteeners in Colorado, Mount Rainier. The first ascent of a relatively easy but remote 6000 metre peak in the Indian Himalayas. 211 Scottish Munroes to date (don't ask!), New Zealand, Southern Ireland etc. I've never used a guide as I am too mean and like to do things my way. I used to rock climb, but this has fizzled out in my sixties although I still do plenty of scrambling and easy ice climbing.

I ski every winter, mostly in France and Italy. I have skied in Whistler, but it rained all the time!!!

I am a keen bridge player and have been making knives form scrap circular saw blades since 1984.
