About

I spent 27 years in the US Army before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. I've been through most of the Army Survival Schools and I've been active in Scouting for about 35 years with two sons who are Eagle Scouts. In 2012 my hiking "pard" and I completed a four-year adventure to complete the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain, GA to Katahdin, Maine. Our current hiking plans are to complete the Tuscarora Trail and the Allegheny Trail over the next few years. I especially love hiking the Massanutten Mountain ridges in the Shenandoah Valley are of Virginia.

My trail name "Hardcharger" was my call sign while serving in Vietnam and it just stuck throughout my military career. I still use it to honor my guys who didn't come home - the real heroes.
