I have been backpacking for over 50 years.  I started in the 1960s.  My first pack was a Trapper Nelson.  Things have changed quite a bit since then.  I would characterize my backpacking style as traditional.  I have made numerous trips to Alaska,Western US and Canadian arctic, and now concentrate on the Sierra.  My backpacking kit for three season camping includes: Mystery Ranch Trance pack, Galibier Rando all leather boots, Big Agnes Seedhouse sl1 tent, Feathered Friends Swallow sleeping bag, Thermarest Neo air mat, Snowpeak cannister stove and titanium cup for solo use, Leki Makalu trekking poles.  I have come to this gear list after many years of owning dozens of other products.  I would give the listed items all five stars.
