Deuter's Razor 23 Wins Men's Journal "Gear Of The Year"
The Razor 23, Deuter's innovative snowsport product, has been awarded Men's Journal magazine's "Gear of the Year" for the backpack category and is featured in the December issue now on newsstands. Deuter's Razor 23 with its distinctive Shield System offers skiers and snowboarders back protection with a polyethylene-plated foam-wrapped "shield" to protect the spine and shoulder blades in bad falls. Deuter is the only pack company to design and manufacture packs with certified built-in back protection. The Razor 23 was one of 50 products chosen in the magazine's annual "Gear of the Year" awards, beating out hundreds of other nominees.
According to John Herron, marketing manager for Deuter USA, "Deuter has a legacy of designing and producing innovative packs for over 100 years. The Razor 23 pack represents the latest technology driven design offering snowsports enthusiasts a comfortable, ventilated and protective way to carry his/her adventure essentials. We are honored that Men's Journal has chosen the Razor 23 pack as one of the most innovative products of 2006."
The Razor 23 is a 23-liter capacity pack that holds skis, snowshoes, or a board; plus a shovel, ice axes, and a helmet. The pack is available at retail stores nationwide and retails for $150 USD.
For Winter 2007, Deuter will continue to advance this distinctive Shield System technology with lighter fabrications as well as the addition of several backcountry and snowboard specific snowsport pack models featuring lightweight designs with hydration capability, superior ventilation and valuable accessories including interior shovel and probe pockets, fleece-lined goggle pockets and women's specific models..
Each year, the editors of Men's Journal consult top pros, designers, and athletes and poll their readers' wish lists to select the most innovative developments of the year. The winners, the "Gear of the Year", are awarded to 50 new products in a wide variety of categories ranging from: running shoes, digital cameras, sunglasses, wetsuits, and mobile phones, to snowboards, grills, gaming consoles, surfboards, backpacks, golf clubs, and more.
