One Percent for the Planet Auction Raises $20,000

One Percent for the Planet raised close to $20,000 on their first online auction. The online auction offered more than 100 items of varied merchandise including a surf session for two with Patagonia Founder Yvon Chouinard and Chris Malloy, a signed guitar from Jack Johnson, rafting in Mexico with Esprit Rafting Adventures, and a guided fly-fishing trip with Craig Matthews of Blue Ribbon Flies.

“The auction was another way for our members to connect with consumers and non-profit groups online - all to support our efforts at 1%,” explains Strick Walker. “The donations included adventure trips, furniture, art, jewelry and business services, such as footprint calculations for individuals and businesses alike. As a non-profit ourselves, we are always looking for new ways to generate funding. The auction served as a fun, interactive way to get our network involved in that process.”

The auction closed out a tremendous year of growth for 1% FTP. Their national ad campaign has appeared in Outside, Spin, Plenty, Surfing, Backcountry and Huck and they have succeeded in allocating over $30 million dollars to environmental non-profits organizations to date through an international network of over 800 companies.
