Utah Top GTX

rated 5 of 5 stars Best backpacking boots I've ever had. Well, since this doesn't seem to be a popular boot company and there are no reviews on it, let me be the first. I love these boots. I researched for over six months trying to find a boot for a thru hike on the AT. I wanted to buy USA made boots and tried several pair of Danners and they just were too narrow for my feet. Although the toe box appears to be narrow, I have plenty of room, but I am using only 3/4 inserts allowing more room for my toes to wiggle around. Full review

Tribute GTX

rated 4 of 5 stars Good boots, especially for the price. I picked these guys up for $75 on STP. That said, had I had to pay full price I would probably be a bit disappointed. As described on the AKU website, they're not the most technical or rigid boot in the world, though I wore them on a short (20 mi / 30 km) backpacking trip with an absurdly heavy pack over easy/medium terrain and I felt that they provided all the necessary support. But the eyelets the laces go through can be sharp, causing the laces to fray and… Full review

Geo Low XCR

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The shoe is light enough to be worn all day, but rugged enough to withstand the toughest outdoor treatment. Great in the wet and breathes well. The size runs a tad small, for me I usually take a US 12-13 and I needed a UK 13 in this shoe. The toe area is roomy and caters to a good thick walking sock so go up rather than down in size. The sole is a bit on the stiff side, so buy them and wear them in in plenty of time for that long hike.   Excellent breathability and well cushioned the shoe is at… Full review

Suiterra Suede GTX Boots

rated 4.5 of 5 stars There are only a couple of things I'm comfortable with dropping some real money on when it comes to my gear and that's backpacks and boots. Yeah, the AKU Suiterra comes with a hefty price tag, (although STP offers them at a greatly reduced price) but the payoff has been well worth it. These handcrafted boots are made in Romania and just scream quality. While they are a touch heavier than a typical mid-hiker (3 pounds), this is a boot that excels in all weather and terrain conditions. A good choice… Full review

SL Trek GTX

rated 5 of 5 stars Handcrafted. Good looking. Rugged. The AKU SL Trek GTX has it all. The SL Trek GTX combines a number of killer features into a very comfortable and capable package. AKU constructs the upper from a combination of nubuck leather and Gore-Tex-lined breathable mesh which we found to be supportive and kept us cool in our tests. To improve protection and stability of the boot, AKU wraps the exterior in a proprietary polyurethane exoskeleton – essentially a plastic reinforcing grid – that covers both… Full review
