Rating: rated 4.5 of 5 stars
Source: bought it new
Price Paid: $79.95

Summary

The shoe is light enough to be worn all day, but rugged enough to withstand the toughest outdoor treatment. Great in the wet and breathes well.

Pros

  • Stability
  • Well cushioned
  • Dry

Cons

  • A bit stiff in the sole until worn in

The size runs a tad small, for me I usually take a US 12-13 and I needed a UK 13 in this shoe. The toe area is roomy and caters to a good thick walking sock so go up rather than down in size. The sole is a bit on the stiff side, so buy them and wear them in in plenty of time for that long hike.

Excellent breathability and well cushioned the shoe is at home on the street or the trail. It appears to be well made and should last well beyond many competitors in the price bracket.

Retailers' Descriptions

Here's what other sites are saying:

The Italians know a thing or two about making shoes. So you can feel pretty good about putting the Italian-made AKU Men's Geo Low XCR Hiking Shoes on your feet. These GEO Low XCRs feature AIR 8000, a proprietary fabric that transports more than ten times the sweat away from your feet than other wicking, breathable fabrics. No moisture means much less foot funk, inflammation, and blisters-a recipe for happy feet. In addition, AKU added Gore-Tex XCR membranes to these shoes to make them waterproof. Finally, Vibram outsoles give you traction on varied terrain.
