Tufto Pants

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Except in the case of extreme cold or heat the Tufto Pants do everything I need pants to — from hiking and climbing to skiing and biking. Over the years I have gone from very low expectations for pants (wearing blue jeans in the mountains) to very high. I have gone from backpacker only to climber and minor mountaineer.  Disambiguation: The term “Bergen” is a generic term for any military backpack in the U.K. The term was used to describe the backpack style favored by skiers in Bergen, Norway. … Full review

Glittertind 55

rated 4.5 of 5 stars More than any other that I've tried, this backpack seems like it's part of your body. To work off a growing middle-age gut, I decided to get back into hiking and backpacking. I'd been a regular hiker when I was a teenager and young adult, but, like a lot of people, I started using my free time on other things as I settled into marriage and family life. Though I still had most of my equipment, somewhere along the way my trusty Kelty pack had disappeared. When I started researching a replacement,… Full review

Rondane 6L

rated 4 of 5 stars The Bergans Rondane 6 L hydration pack is a new low-profile pack that is built for high motion activities, such as trail running, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, kayaking, or mountain biking. It features Bergans’ RS3 (Rock Steady) Stability System, which comfortably stabilizes the pack to your back, while allowing airflow and breathability by using ventilating foam covered in mesh. What sets the Rondane 6 apart from other hydration packs is that it uses a five strap system to lock the pack to your… Full review

Compact Light 2

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Bergans Compact Light 2 is an impressively sturdy and weather-resistant four season tunnel tent. It excels in high winds and rain and sets up very quickly and easily. I have reason to believe that it would also excel in snow, but I was not able to find any during my summer testing period. About the tester: I am a 30 year-old 5’4” female from S.C. who typically goes on day and overnight hikes in the Southern Appalachians. Conditions: I tested the Compact Light 2 for two months in the Southern… Full review

Glittertind 70

rated 4 of 5 stars The Glittertind by Bergans of Norway is a well designed pack suitable for those who wish to carry large loads in relative comfort. The Bergans "SPINE" suspension system enables the pack to flex with the wearer's movements as they walk, reducing fatigue and back strain. I found that with careful adjustment this system worked well. Introduction The Glittertind is an internal frame pack series by Bergans of Norway.  It comes in 55L and 70L versions, and each model comes in Small, Medium, and Large. … Full review
