The North Face Men's Thermoball Traction Mule II

rated 4 of 5 stars A very good base camp shoe. About a lb per pair. An excellent camp shoe. Runs small. I wear an 11, and if I want to wear socks with the Thermoball it has to be a low cut running sock; no chance of a wool hiking sock fitting in it. On the plus side, you will not worry walking off you site to use relieve yourself with the Thermoball on. The sole is a few centimeters higher than the footbed, so you foot does not slide around in it. Full review

Montane Prism Bootie

rated 5 of 5 stars The Montane Prism PrimaLoft-filled booties are one of the best camp booties I have used. They are not the warmest booties in my collection, but are warm enough for use in snow and air temperatures down to 10°F or so with a heavy pair of wool socks. I walked around in them on somewhat rocky and sandy ground in comfort. The Pertex outer shell is very water-repellent, and the synthetic sole stood up well to walking around on rocky soil. Background: When I (and most climbers, backpackers, and backcountry… Full review

Big Agnes Mountain Booties

rated 5 of 5 stars These are my new indoor shoes:) My girlfriend hates them but I love them! So warm but not sweaty. Makes you look like a hobbit. Great for winter camping, staying in a cold cabin or traveling. Packs well, no stiff sole. Full review

Sierra Designs Men's Down Moccasin

rated 3.5 of 5 stars These are toasty warm around the foot. The build quality is great, with thoughtful touches like a heel pull that works well with winter gloves (field verified). The reinforced heel and front help mitigate moisture migration into the down from wet snow. These shoes have some grip, but stay on flat terrain. Hard packed snow is not your friend while wearing these. I wore these on a winter backpacking trip, with mid-weight merino socks, in single digit temperatures. My feet were toasty warm — mostly… Full review

GooseFeet Down Socks

rated 5 of 5 stars When they first arrived I was very impressed at how light and compressible they are. I quickly took the booties out of their stuff sack to try them on. Wow! They are so soft and comfortable. Next, I removed the outer shell from their included stuff sack. The sewing and attention to detail is top notch. The foam insoles that are included with the outer shell is just enough cushion to allow them to be used around camp. If one chose, they could simply remove their insoles form their hiking foot wear… Full review

Sierra Designs Women's Mountain Boot

rated 5 of 5 stars Do not mistake these toasters for tent slippers. They are high-cut, 700-fill down, podiatric heaven. Lugged rubber soles and a solid-constructed EVA footbed give you traction on snow and frosty ground over short distances. An elastic cord cinches the top to seal out icy drafts and they are fully taped and waterproof to keep feet dry and warm. What made these booties so great while camping this winter and spring is that I could keep them inside my sleeping bag. While winter camping, nature never… Full review

The North Face Nuptse Fur III

rated 4 of 5 stars There were not a lot of reviews on these boots and the ones I did find said that they ran a half size big. I normally wear a 6.5, so I ordered a size 6 and they were too small. My foot fit in it, but my toes were at the very end with not a millimeter to spare. As much as I paid for them, I didn't want to take the chance that they would stretch over time, so I sent them back and ordered a 6.5. They fit, but they do feel a little loose, so don't expect a lot of foot and arch support. Even so, they… Full review

The North Face Men's NSE Tent Bootie

rated 5 of 5 stars I have used these booties in cold weather as well as mild summer nights and they are the best footwear I use. For use around camp they are comfortable, warm in 17 degree weather without socks and easy to slip on and off during the night when time is of essence. They hold up really well, better than I expected and I will be purchasing another pair in the short future. I cannot say enough about this item. Full review

The North Face Men's NSE Tent Bootie

rated 3 of 5 stars Overall these booties perform as expected, but I am very curious about the insulation. They are advertised as down booties, and there is some down in these things (judging by the feathers that come through the nylon) but I think it is negligible; it appears the bulk of the insulation is synthetic. They do not have the characteristics of a down product. Maybe one of our retailers/gear testers will be willing to cut them open to find out? I think I will go with Feathered Friends for my next pair. Full review
