EMS Men's Feather Pack 800 Hooded

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Nice jacket, solid construction, good fill on the down. Got mine on sale on a Black Friday doorbuster so the price can't be beat. Large inside vest pocket for self packing is nice for keeping largish items warm — I like to go out and get a burger at Five Guys when walking my dog and then take it home for dinner (dog and burger). Also has a drawstring to keep air seal around waist/hips. I could quibble about lack of a drawstring on the hood, but many jacket doesn't have that either. Haven't yet… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Dynotherm Down Hooded Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Great all around jacket, lightweight and waterproof. Keeps me warm and cozy while out hiking on the back trails of North Carolina. Fits very well and moves with my body. Camping in 24 degree weather with a fairly good frost by morning, keeps me warm and kept the wind at bay. I would recommend to anyone in need of a great jacket. Full review

MontBell EX Light Down Anorak

rated 5 of 5 stars Super light at only 180g for a men's large. With 900 FP down it is also very warm. Very packable, compresses to the size of a softball. Gives me the opportunity to leave much heavier mid layers at home. Fit and comfort are great, half zipper allows easy putting on and taking off. Elastic on cuffs and drawstring on the waist keeps the cold drafts out. There is no drawstring on the hood, but it is well fitting and keeps the warmth in. A bit pricey, but aren't all lightweight packable down jackets? Full review

Rab Men's Microlight Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Light, foldable, relatively warm. Great lightweight cool looking down.  Folds pretty small into its own pocket.  Problem is, like all down products, don't get it wet.  I was soaked once in a sudden thunderstorm, wasn't pleasant.  A bit expensive, but well worth it. Full review

Rab Men's Neutrino Endurance Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars The Rab Neutrino Endurance Jacket — warmer than Luke Skywalker sleeping in tauntaun guts (but without the smell). I bought my Rab Neutrino Endurance Jacket as I was moving from the UK to Minnesota in the US.  I balked at the price but I don't regret it for a second as the first winter I moved over we were getting temps of -22°C. Patagonia Men's Ultralight Down Hoody

rated 3 of 5 stars Overall this is a decent jacket, but it's not as warm as some other jackets out there. The Ultralight is a sized down alternative to the classic Down Sweater. Coming in at just under 300 grams it's one of the lightest weight insulation pieces on the market. Rab Men's Continuum Hoodie

rated 5 of 5 stars The perfect high mountain backpacking down jacket. There is almost nothing better than backpacking in the Sierra in late summer/early fall when the nights can get chilly. Temps can routinely get into the 30s and 20s—and even the teens. I remember one morning below Mt. Whitney in late September it was 17 degrees at 6 a.m. When that happens, there is nothing better than having a great down jacket. Unfortunately, that morning I did not have one. MontBell Men's EX Light Down Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great for summer backpacking in Sierras, Rockies, Cascades. Works well as lightweight warmth on backcountry ski days. I have primarily used the jacket on backpacking trips — on chilly nights in the summer above 10,000 ft. and most every night in late September to October above 10,000 ft. So lightweight and compactable, hardly know it is in the pack. Far better than carrying a heavier down jacket, vest, heavy polypro. Oh, and it was plenty warm too.
