Well, it seems EMS has done it again. The y2k EMS 3000 pack is everything an internal frame can be of that size. It has two aluminum staves covered with a high-density polyethelyne (HDPE) framesheet [which all equates to the weight being focused in on the waist in the appropriate ratio]. The back, shoulder straps, and waist belt are all 3D-Air mesh: a thick polyester wicking pad that keeps the sweat away from the hiker, keeping him/her more comfortable. The pack comes with a Platypus Hydration system (how cool is that?) to keep you drinking with ease and trekking longer. With two tool loops and plenty of lash points, this packs has no limits on what you can do! I hike with Danas and Gregorys mostly, but I bought this one since it was only $120. Now its my favorite pack due to its versatility. It will join the 4000-footer club soon enough and it hasn't lost a thread. I've had something break before that I bought at EMS and they were great about repairing it for me free of charge (and it was 10 years old!), so I know this is a pack for life right here. 10 out of 10 stars. Way to go EMS.
