Get this:
I go to EMS and find this bag in mint condition on sale for a fraction of the normal price... $85!!!
The problem: no shoulder straps.
So, I call up the factory in NH and they tell me to ship the bag with a $20 check for new straps and I did. Its the best $105 I have spent for hiking equip so far.
The bag is great! The suspension is awesome and it packs nicely. Even when its full and you need something out of the depths of the bag, the side zipper makes getting to it a cinch! The outside comes well equipped with a number of loops and straps that allow for tying just about anything you need to it and the two water bottle holders on the sides are handy. Because it packs so neatly it is easy to over stuff the bag and not realize how much weight you are about to load onto your shoulders.
My one complaint is the way the detachable top portion/fanny pack kinda' flops over and dumps everything out when you're taking a break and/or unpacking at camp. I know, I know... its such a pitiful complaint but I had to say what is real.
