Rating: ![]()
Design: 4 season expedition dome
Sleeps: 3
Ease of Setup: Very easy w/2 people - all poles (except vestibule, which is a differt color) same length
Weight: 9 lbs?
Price Paid: $425
Used this tent during summer/fall for backpacking/car camping, and loved it. Plenty of room for two people and gear, and sleeps three very comfortably. However, very disappointed with performance of the poles on a recent winter trip.
After attempting a nighttime ascent of Mt. Washington on New Year's Eve, arrived at campground around 3 a.m. Temp. was -15. While setting up the tent, discovered there was no elasticity in the shock cords, and had to warm the poles by laying them across the heater vents of our jeep. To make matters worse, the vestibule pole cracked in two places (completely snapped in one place) after we had crawled inside. EMS replaced the pole the next day, but I am replacing all the poles with Easton poles, which are a thicker diameter and have better shock cords. BTW, EMS has gone with Eastons for their new models.
