Gerber Camp Axe II
Price Paid: $49.95
This model with the slightly longer handle is much better. The saw insert (inside handle) is a very good addition. I would like to see the saw lock into the handle with a little more security, e.g. a screw cap type end. Nice sheath that has belt loop and velcro closer, with lanyard loop. Very handy sheath access with strong velcro flap. Back side of axe's head also works well as a hammer.
Yes, I would recommend and buy again from REI

Here's what other sites are saying:
Among Gerbers single hand axes, the Gerber Camp II has the longest handle. This additional length offers more force with each swing. Built to the same tough specifications as the Sport II and Back Pack II, it has a forged stainless steel head, glass-filled nylon handle and molded plastic sheath. This is the axe for setting up camp, splitting kindling, and pounding in tent stakes.
With its superior edge retention and long, unbreakable handle, the Gerber Camp Axe II is a camping necessity.
The Gerber Camp Axe II makes short work of firewood chores thanks to a longer shaft that generates more power with each swing and precision balancing that conserves energy as you chop away. For extra safety, the shaft is molded around the head, because a suddenly separated head could ruin the day of an innocent bystander.
