I needed a small, single blade that locked for my son. He is a Boy Scout and has earned his Tot'n Chip which allows him to carry a pocket knife.

I have several Gerber knifes and expected excellence with this one and that is what it is; excellent. Very sharp, well made, extremely light.

I would have given it 5 stars but it has its limitations. It is small so it fits my son's hand well. An adult may want a larger knife. It is so light you can't feel it in your pocket which could make it easier to use.

Overall a nice knife. You can't go wrong with this one for a boy's 1st knife.

Here's what other sites are saying:

The Gerber Ultralight LST is a knife with some mighty impressive roots. It was brought to market back in 1980 by none other than the man whose last name goes on each of our products. Pete Gerber was the first knife creator to envision the merits of using all-synthetic materials in the handle. He and knife designer Blackie Collins aimed to deliver lightweight performance that had not been seen before in a knife this all-out rugged.

The handle, which Gerber designed more than 25 years ago, is what makes this knife so lightweight, yet it's extremely durable. This pocket knife folds closed, so it's easy to carry on you.
