Delicious, nutritious meal. Much better tasting than other granola varieties. The pros of taste, prep ease, and nutrition far outweigh any cons.

Pros

  • Delicious
  • All natural
  • Vegetarian
  • Useful packaging
  • Nutritious

Cons

  • Price (like all prepackaged meals)
  • Must add water before eating
  • Not for the lactose intolerant

Taste:

This was easily the best tasting prepackaged breakfast I've had to date. It was sweet, nutty, fruity, and hearty all at the same time. The ingredients combined perfectly for my palate. A few of the ingredients are figs, blueberries, almonds, oars, and flax seed. They combine for a good texture and multiple flavors.

I typically make my own oatmeal or granola packets with dehydrated bananas and nuts. The flavor of my make your own breakfast doesn't even compare, and I don't think I could even come close to replicating the deliciousness that this bag contains! Dry, ready to hydrate:

Prep:

Directions say add a little less than half a cup of cold or hot water, with no wait time for re-hydration, which is great. I chose hot, and I believed at first that I added too much water. Nobody likes soupy granola, right? The powdered whole milk re-hydrated and I ended up with tasty warm milk to drink out of the bag after the solids were done. Outstanding!

Satiety: Good To-Go Granola left me full. I ate the entire serving. Normally I choke down something because I know I have to and end up only eating half of my breakfast. High marks here.

Energy: Powered me through a morning of hiking. The calorie content is decent at 580, fiber and carbohydrate percentages are excellent, and the product is low in sodium at only 10%.

Claims: GTG claims that this is a stand-out among granolas due to its whole, clean ingredients, which I agree with. Also claimed on its website is that the whole milk makes it a complete meal, which I completely agree with. Without the milk this granola would still be good. The milk put it over the top for taste and nutrition.

Packaging: The package is slim without sharp corners or excessive unused volume or weight. This meal's bag, along with another GTG entree's bag, served as my trash bags for a four-day trip. They sealed well until disposed of and were sturdy for their weight. Again, high marks here.

Best For: Anyone who uses prepackaged meals. Normally it seems there has to be a tradeoff for weight, taste, volume, etc. Good To-Go has hit a sweet spot here. This is easily the best pre-packed breakfast I've had, and maybe one of the best prepackaged meals I've ever had. A tad on the pricey side, as most prepackaged backpacking meals. I'll definitely pack this again for special occasions.
