From REI:
"The traditional Eagle ice axe from GrivelĀ® is ideal for backcountry and classic alpine use, utilizing a molded handgrip for cold protection. One-piece, hot-forged carbon-steel head with classic positive pick angle bites into burly ice for smooth self-arrests. Well-balanced and lightweight aluminum alloy shaft is resistance-rated to 270kg for superb strength to weight. Over-molded, insulated rubber handgrip at head with ergonomic grip and provides enhanced control and protection from cold. Symmetrical alloy spike plunges easily into hard-packed ice and snow; down-curved adze chops steps efficiently and offers better leverage. Closeout."

"This is a light axe, for sure. I like it fine for walking; the head is comfortable in piolet (or however you spell it) position. The pick is pretty good although I'd like it to penetrate in ice better. The real pain for me is the adze. It is angled down and is a hassle to use."

"Great Axe for classic mountaineering. It is lightweight and very comfortable to hold. The pick really digs into hard ice and can self arrest smoothly on steep icy slopes. My only complaint is the adze, it has a curved arch to it which I think lowers its ability to cut steps out smoothly."
