Here's what other sites are saying:

From Moosejaw:
"Free Shipping. Grivel Monster Ice Tool (Fall 2007) The Monster by Grivel was designed as a dry-tooling specific tool. Climbers in Europe have finally seen the folly of bending and breaking high performance ice climbing tools on difficult mixed routes where dry-tooling terrain comprises a more significant component of the route than ice. The hot-forged, one-piece head is not modular, and for the price interchangeable picks should not be expected. The beefy (5mm) pick has plenty of teeth on top and bottom, and is hardened to stand up to the abuse of the hardest rock. The shaft is cut from a slab of ChroMoly spring steel. Its shape offers plenty of good clearance and a variety of hand positions. The sticky, rubberized grip area presents both a fatigue-reducing Pull position (aka the Trucker Honk) and a Swing position to efficiently arc the tool into the ice. The grip has been modified from the original to be a bit more aggressive. The shaft may be customized for comfort (each Monster is supplied with a section of Snake to pad the edges of the shaft). Monster is available in a variety of colors and graphics. Specs & Tech: Blade: reverse, positive Materials: ChroMoly steel Construction: hot-forged head CE - Shaft Resistance: EN 13089 (plenty strong)"

From Ramsey Outdoor:
"Future alpine historians will have to declare a winner in the competition between climbing techniques and the tools that make them possible: probably ..."

From EMS:
"An extremely versatile tool that can be wedged in between two columns of ice, into hidden holes, in all the shapes and forms that rock, ice, and melted ice can create. Shaft cut from a flat piece of steel rather than tubular alloy. Cutting process using laser technology produces a shaft with multiple grips for traction, swings, hand swap-overs, new positions, and interpretations. Forged pick with teeth at all angles, straight, inverse, fits into holes and onto the tiniest holds. Flexible shaft allows for out-of-axis traction and increases the ability of hooking up in cracks. Absence of adze or hammer gives greater freedom in cracks. Weight: 23.63 ounces; shaft length: 49 centimeters."

From Backcountry.com:
"The Grivel Monster Ice Tool is unlike any leashless tool ever made. Designed specifically for mixed climbing, the Monster has a flexible shaft to make hooking in cracks easier plus it will stand up to the beatings that mixed tools take on a daily basis. It has multiple grip positions to allow matching, switching, and any other move you can invent. The shaft can also be fitted with the included plastic attachments so you can shape the tool to fit your hands and your style perfectly. The pick is thicker than that of any other ice tool on the market and is hot forged to make it as strong as possible. The Monster's pick is also equipped with aggressive teeth on the top and back to facilitate stein-pulling and torqueing in cracks. Because the Monster ice tool costs half as much as other leashless tools, you can get a set for mixed climbing and save your other tools for the ice."
